Belle Posted May 7, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Know the last few months haven't gone our way Being home with people or alone with all the food every day More snacking and cooking seems what we do It is harder to watch what we eat without a cruise due Should be easier to diet by not going out and about and buying extra food We can cook healthier food at home that is good But as humans we hate when someone says no Even when it's best to stay home we know Really I think we all have been doing our best Have had loss's, stay the sames and a few small gains during this test What is great during this few months we haven't had big gains We have been aware and tried to watch our food intake in the sun and rain I know we all wish during this time we could have big loss's and have pictures to send But our life has had a big change to deal with and don't know when it will end I think we should be proud we're holding our own these months, weeks and days We will keep trying to do what's right to keep us healthy, our minds calm in our own way So sometimes it could be us eating second servings, bread, sweets or the big helping of ice cream You eat right most of the time, salads and such so when you go off the plan don't scream We will keep trying each day each week and keep coming in here every Thursday Want to Thank You All that are still coming in each week My opinion only..us that keep coming in even if only having small loss,s or staying the same and very small gains at this time..I think we're better off. We're keep aware of what we're eating if even we eat things we shouldn't or overeat at times. We're keeping ourselves accountable. Not all but some that have stopped coming in at this time could be having a harder time losing weight, holding their own might have gave up at this time because their home with spouses or kids and being busy. We haven't given up..at least coming in here we at least will hold our own during this " unknown " time in our world but with the goal we want to lose. Stay healthy and stay safe! 1
Jan_In_Maine Posted May 7, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Good Morning Belle! Thanks for the poem. I am unfortunately up 1# this week. Motivation is not great and have been having dessert in the evenings without much exercise. I will get back into the swing of things shortly .... Hope everyone had a wonderful week. winewanderer Posted May 7, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Hello everyone, I gained the lb. I lost last week, boo... Jan, sorry you gained too. Belle, thanks for the great words. You keep us going. I'm thankful for everyone that still posts. Stay healthy, Diana
pacruise804 Posted May 7, 2020 #4 Share Posted May 7, 2020 I had a small loss this morning, but forgot to record the weight. I think it was .6# - not too bad considering how much liquid calories we had over the weekend plus some takeout to support the economy 😉 I expect next week to be a bigger drop with the healthier eating and more exercise, but am trying to embrace "non scale victories" (NSV) where I can. Energy overall has been up and - I'm eating different veggies! (pretty bland veggie girl before this). I'm not having many cravings but we do allow a small treat with lunch and small treat after supper which while not on plan I think helps to keep going with the rest of it. This group means a lot to me ❤️ I have backed off quite a bit from the other forums (except active on the fashion boards too) and eased away from FB too, but there is something special about our group. It's a safe, encouraging place and accountability really does help.
MamatoJack Posted May 7, 2020 #5 Share Posted May 7, 2020 Hello. I'm new to this group, not really new to the boards. I started WW in late February right before everything went nuts. I've been really struggling with my eating ever since. I have a couple cruises booked for December (fingers crossed) and would like to get in better shape before then! I've lost about 3 pounds, which doesn't really count for much since I gained and lost them a couple times over the past 8 weeks. Any way! I'm trying to move more, eat less, eat better and focus on not eating my feelings. I've tried many things in the past, Keto was the one that made the most difference but was too hard to maintain as a lifestyle. I am single mom to a 10-year-old boy who loves his carbs, and I'm trying to get him eating better as well. Not for weight loss since he doesn't need that, but just in general for health.
Belle Posted May 7, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted May 7, 2020 (edited) Good Afternoon Everyone Welcome MamatoJack...Yes is hard to lose weight and especially at this time but we can do it. Please come in everyday and talk if you want and weigh-in every Thursday. Jan...You'll get it off and get it off. Know it's so hard at this time. Thank you. Diana...Know you'll get it off too. Only a small gain. Thank you. Pac...Congrats on the loss. Every bit helps. I think this is a special group too. Wish others knew that. It does keep you accountable. Me...I lost the pound I gained last week. Like I said by coming in here helps us even if we seem to be at a stand still at this time. We could be having terrible gains if not weighing each week. Everyone keep going in this "world" at this time. It's hard on everyone. Being alone or having family in the house. Main thing is to follow the simple rules..stay at home..wear a mask....Wash your hands OFTEN. So take care and stay safe. I worry that states are opening up places, I think it's to soon with still so many cases and deaths. My opinion only. But please be safe out there..think we will have more cases because of this. Everyone have a good eating weekend..That is try not to eat to many things that we know we should be avoiding. Or at least eat smaller servings. retiring soon Posted May 7, 2020 #7 Share Posted May 7, 2020 HI all! Belle ~ thanks for your words of encouragement. I was thinking that maybe some people who no longer pop in aren't cruising so don't come on Cruise Critic. I wonder about shootr & miss his pictures. I had a good week it seems as I'm down 1 lb. Don't know how I did it but am glad. Have a nice weekend & stay safe. ~ Jo ~ 😊
Belle Posted May 8, 2020 Author #8 Share Posted May 8, 2020 (edited) Hi Jo..Thank You Congrats on your loss. Take it no matter how it happen. It could be true that people aren't coming because of no cruises booked. Mine to Europe was just cancelled like I knew it would be. But I booked two for next April 1st one was a free one only 7 days, so added the one after a 7 day too. Daughter going on both of them with me. If they happen. Hope so that's 11 months away. Hope this virus is gone and have av vaccine. Their just coastal one down south and the other north. Starting out small and it better that way. Least it's cruising. Yes I miss shootr and everyone that came in..I hope/wish they all would come back. Hoping their still reading the posts and will pop in soon. pacruise804 Posted May 8, 2020 #10 Share Posted May 8, 2020 Welcome, Mama! I'm an emotional eater too and have been struggling the past year with gaining and losing the same couple pounds (my net is down a little). I recently started Beachbody's 2B nutrition plan and really like it's approach of water first, veggies most, and a breakdown of carbs I hadn't seen before. It's still really nothing new in nutrition, just packaged a little differently. I'm not following the plan perfectly, but I am getting a lot more vegetables and less "empty" foods. I do allow some very small sweets but have them each day - not part of the plan but I think it will help us from feeling deprived. I am noticing more energy, less hunger/cravings, and enjoying vegetables more than I thought I would. My daughter struggles with weight while my son is almost too thin. DH could lose a few pounds but his ratios are better (and he enjoys more veggies than I do). This plan seems to be working well for all of us and I'm impressed with how well my kids are eating the vegetables.
pacruise804 Posted May 8, 2020 #11 Share Posted May 8, 2020 I riced a head of cauliflower yesterday and was amazed how simple it was (plus more yield for the price than frozen). Rough cut the florets, removing the leaves and woodiest part of the core; pulsed about 1/4 of the head at a time in the food processor, removing large chunks as needed to pulse with the next group; wrapped in a kitchen towel to drain (not a ton of liquid, but it was part of the directions); fried a few cups with my spicy beef and cabbage then froze the rest for later use. Hope that helps someone.
Belle Posted May 8, 2020 Author #12 Share Posted May 8, 2020 Cruise42 are you out there? I swear I got a notice you posted but nothing was here. Come back. Miss you. Pac your doing good on the eating, enjoying the veggies. Cauliflower is one I don't like but sure other people do and will like how easy to rice. Keep up the good work. Afternoon everyone. It's Friday! Remember when that was great. I guess it still is to those that are lucky to be working. Most of us the days just run together. Last night I was really down last night..being alone is getting to me, as I know it is for everyone. Just be happy you have someone in the house with you, Know you still don't like being home at least you have a real life person to be with and talk to and not just on the phone. I'm better today..it is what it is. Enjoy your weekend whatever you do or don't do.
winewanderer Posted May 8, 2020 #13 Share Posted May 8, 2020 Hi Belle, Glad you're doing better today. Such a difficult time. I find myself getting teary for no reason. It's a bummer time...... I read your post about the 2 cruises you booked Spring 2021. At least it is something to look forward to. Hubby and I are still too skittish to book something but I did start a list of cruises I would like to take if things look better next year. We don't want to book anything until we know more about infection numbers, vaccine as the next few months go by. Hubby mentioned a couple of cruises, one in January 2021 and one in Feb. 2021 but I think that is still too soon. Pacruise, ricing cauliflower is a great idea. We eat it sometimes like steak. Cut large slices and roast it in the oven. Also great. I love cauliflower. Today was a bit uneventful, it was 97 degrees so too hot for anything outdoors. Hubby wanted to go for a bike ride but I said "no". Our temps. are supposed to go down to around mid 80's the next couple of days and they say rain Tuesday, wow that's a switch. We bought some strawberries. I noticed some were a bit too ripe when I washed them. So hubby threw them in the blender with peach nectar and rum. Oh boy, yummy. Good thing I already did cleaning and washed/put away laundry....... Diana
Belle Posted May 9, 2020 Author #14 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Thanks Diana..I'm sorry you get sad at times too. I've had tears at times too. It such a hard time for everyone. Don't know about them opening things up. I don't get some of the things which would be face to face. Still staying in. My hair will be down to my knees soon (not really) but need a hair cut to long , wear it long but this is to much, no style. Need my fingers and toes done to...but no one seeing me..so doesn't matter now. I'll just go when I feel it's safe. Yes, I booked two cruises b2b, one is free. Their eleven months away and if things aren't better will just cancel. Sure hope things are better. What will we do if it isn't? I like having them so I feel I have something to look forward to. Not exciting ports (been many times) but I'm going just to cruise. Spend time with my daughter (most times) since she'll probably do more then me. Also like to relax, do the shows and the casino. (wonder how they will do the cleaning) Shorter hours, cleaning often, I would think. Plus meeting a friend in Seattle. I enjoy cruising if doing a lot or doing nothing. Love to read and look at the sea. Gee I've written a book. Will stop now. Take care Diana and everyone.

I had started dieting for our 16 day TA (NY, Greenland, Iceland, Europe) then 9 day Norwegian fjord cruises (in June) & of course they are cancelled. Then last week I fell and dislocated my shoulder. Still quite a bit of pain. I can"t drive for 3-6 weeks. So no dieting or exercising for me right now
Belle Posted May 9, 2020 Author #16 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Nice to see you cruise42 glad you read us everyday. Please come back and join us. At this time most of us are mainly just trying to hold are own. Coming in here helps us not gain much. I'm so sorry about you falling and being in pain. I hope it gets better each day. Know it will take awhile to heal. Sorry that you had to cancel cruises too. We all want to go on them BUT not till it's safe. So far no one on here has gotten sick unless it's someone that doesn't come in anymore. We're all staying at home and following the rules. Can't believe what some people are doing out there. They have no common sense. Take care and I hope you keep coming in.
melmar02 Posted May 9, 2020 #17 Share Posted May 9, 2020 Sorry I'm late this week. Yesterday was my kids last day of school so I was trying to get all their finals ready on Thursday. I've had a lot of inquiries this week too, so I had to remember what it was like to answer emails.😆 I'm up 1.1# from last week, and this week will most likely be a gain too. We cheated twice this week, and we had a sundae bar for dessert last night to celebrate the kids' last day. Hubby's birthday is tomorrow, and his cake is in the oven right now. I see no carbs coming my way on Monday! Jan and Diana - I'm hanging in there with you. Hoping I can get out more to walk next week. Pacruise, Jo, and Belle - Congratulations! MamatoJack - welcome! Cruises42 - oh my goodness! I hope the pain doesn't last too long and that you heal quickly!

Belle Posted May 11, 2020 Author #22 Share Posted May 11, 2020 Good Monday Morning everyone. Hope you had a good Mother's Day. That you got to see your "kids". This virus changed everyone's plans. See what's happening when it's Father's Day. I had a good Mother's Day weekend. My best weekend in months. My daughter had Sat. off, she got take out for us and we sat out on the patio at the the table at a distance and enjoyed a late lunch in the sun talking and eating. The weather was great. Nice and warm. Then Sun. the weather was warm again, warmer then they said it would be and my son got take out and came over and we sat out side on the patio at a distance too and ate lunch and talked. Hadn't seen him in awhile so it was really nice. Hope we will start doing this more when weather is good. Suppose to rain today (Mon) Writing this Sun. night. Take care, stay safe.
pacruise804 Posted May 11, 2020 #23 Share Posted May 11, 2020 Happy Belated Mother's Day! (And extra hugs for all that find it a hard day) Belle, I'm glad you got to spend time with your kids I'm sorry about your loneliness. Melmar, congrats to your kids on another year of school; Happy Birthday to your husband; and yay for potential jobs! Sometimes the gains are worth it 😉 Prayers for rest and recovery, Cruises 42. Thanks for checking in. I never really liked cauliflower, but am willing to try things different ways. I'll try making the steaks this week for DH and maybe with enough seasoning and being roasted it will be good to me too.
melmar02 Posted May 12, 2020 #24 Share Posted May 12, 2020 Belle, it's nice that you got to visit with your son and daughter. Pacruise, I'm firmly in the no cauliflower camp too. I don't know if I have ever had it roasted though. Let us know what you think. For my mid-life crisis this past September, I dyed my hair purple and bought a bike to ride with the kids around the neighborhood. I've ridden it all of twice before this week and just up and down the street to make sure I remembered how. Yesterday, I went out with the kids, and I lasted about 15 minutes - thought I wouldn't make it home. I went out with them again this morning and made it about 20. It's so much harder than a stationary bike at the gym, and I know what saddle sore means now! 😳 I'm going back to weights and walking tomorrow! 😆
Belle Posted May 12, 2020 Author #25 Share Posted May 12, 2020 Pac thank you. I'm use to being alone since my husband died (as much as you can be) but that was with seeing the "kids" friends going out ect. Yes nice seeing the "kids" since their being so careful that they don't want me to get the virus. Even my daughter and son can't be together at this time since she's working at the market and he has a medical problem. Why they came on different days. Each one didn't the other was doing it. Was nice weather both days. Today cold and rainy. We hope to do it more when the weather stays better. Only thing they both brought so much food, eating both days and having left overs. Don't know about weight on Thursday. Hope everyone had a good Sunday, must of....your not talking. Take care all.
