Question for Carnival Gamblers

Recommended Posts

Yes.

Find a nice waiter. Tip them very well the first day of the cruise. Visit the casino a lot. You don't need to gamble a lot, just be at a machine.

I have done that twice and both times gotten a lot of drinks without having to gamble a lot.

I also was very happy to give the waiter the money directly.

Just remember there's a limit of 15 drinks/day. On one of the cruises I took there was this guy I would see every day late afternoon in the men's sauna who would COMPLAIN that he needed to sweat out the alcohol he had so far for the day so he can go drink so more to get his 15 drinks/day max. SMH

Never found the need to have the drink package when I can get free drinks in the casino.  To be fair, even without the casino drinks, I would not buy the package.  I am happy with a few beers and a cappuccino everyday.  While some can justify it, it would be wasted on me. Or should I say, I would be wasted on it?

Yep - do it quite frequently. Between my included casino drinks, platinum drink coupon, cocktails at the platinum/diamond party, cocktails at casino events (if on a casino cruise), and the case of bottled water I have sent to my room, it's very rare that I spend more than my included OBC on a 7 day cruise on other drinks. I buy specialty coffees every morning, a quality bottle of wine (50% off on the first night for the win!) at the steakhouse the first night (which I finish at a second night at the steakhouse) and a few cocktails at Alchemy and I'm good with the combo of that and the included drinks.

+1

Were not HUGE drinkers (probably two cocktails a day each); which we can EASILY get free in the casino, while playing a $20 anyway.

For reference: we’ve only gotten the “free drinks” in the casino once, and “earned” it once.

I get the drinks on us package so I don’t bother to pay for the cheers package. I wouldn’t drink that much during the day to justify the cost. On my next cruise I get the fee drinks anywhere package.

I wouldn't buy cheers because I always get DOU. I do order water and diet coke to my cabin before the cruise. I am not much of a day drinker so it works out for me. My friend I travel with is a day drinker, having maybe 2-3 but she still doesn't buy cheers. As it costs less to pay for the drinks then buy cheers. And we usually have OBC to cover the drinks we have to purchase.

We usually meet in the casino before dinner, order a drink, play a little and request a table for dinner (thru the app) so we do have a drink for dinner.

yes,

we are generous tippers and the wait staff takes great care of us.

I definitely agree with the tip about also asking for a water with a drink to take back to the room, also sometimes just ask for a soda before heading in for the night. The water and soda do not count towards the 15 drinks when you are DOU.

We are booked on our first cruise with drinks on us in the casino. Do we get a special card at check in or do we need to go to the casino to get something. Last cruise we were on we earned it on the cruise and I believe they put a sticker on our card.
