Out today by the WHO. It is RARE that asymtonstic carriers of the virus spread the disease to secondary people. So much for the need of masks by the vast majority of people. Another requirement found to be useless. Only those with current symptoms need wear. Out today in Cnbc and Bloomberg news online. Read it all you worry warts.

I'm confused why you quoted me. I wear a mask because it's required for my job in a hospital and I wouldn't have a problem wearing one on board. Not sure who you're calling a worry wart, but I'm guessing you meant it for someone else.

Ps...I work around those that are currently affected, do you?

No it was Not directed at you but just posted it as it talked about masks onboard ships for general knowledge. I see people wearing  masks in their cars, jogging by themselves ,etc. these are the worry warts .

Just making sure.....trust me, I'm not a worry wart in the least. Thanks for clarifying.

No worries Dwight....it's all good. My only thought, outside work and family, is to get back out to sea! After almost 4 months of 14 hour shifts, a cruise is at the forefront of my thoughts! 😉

I like the quote I saw on the humor thread:

Wearing a mask while driving by yourself...is like wearing a condom to bed when you sleep alone.  😄 😄

Asymptomatic carriers may not be able to transmit Covid 19, but those who are going to be ill 24 to 48 hours from now are able to shed the virus. I don't really understand the hatred of masks. Sure, they are annoying but if anyone can be helped, why not. Remember when seat belts came out? There was a lot of resistance against them, yet now they are second nature.

Apples to Oranges.  Seat belts are worn to protect you.  The common masks most are wearing...protect others...not you.  I wear a mask at Walmart and Publix grocery to put other shoppers more at ease.  It won't protect me from others that have the virus.

If RCCL does sail on Aug. 1, it would likely only be the following ships sailing the Caribbean:

- Navigator(via Miami)

- Independence(via Fort Lauderdale)

- Mariner(via Port Canaveral)

- Enchantment(via Galveston)

- Harmony(via Port Canaveral)

- Liberty(via Galveston)

- Freedom(via San Juan)?

- Majesty(via New Orleans)

- Symphony(via Miami)

I doubt the Grandeur sails out of Baltimore and none of the three ships scheduled to sail out of Bayonne will be sailing this year. The Freedom out of San Juan is also questionable. So RCCL might be in a similar situation as Carnival in only having 8 ships sailing if they do start on Aug. 1.

Not RCI but....As a result of the continuing impact of Covid-19, Cunard has extended its pause in operations to sailings up to and including 1 November 2020 for Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria, and 23 November for Queen Elizabeth.

It seems like RCL is always the last in the announcements.  Guess we need a few more to announce first

Given the new quarantine requirement in the UK and this from Cunard, it starts looking like TA's from Spain, Italy and maybe even UK will not happen as scheduled.  RCI should address what they will be doing soon I hope!

I agree we wear masks out shopping. In the warmer weather my glasses fog up more, but that’s easy to remedy.

some of the places we go it’s mandatory to wear masks and it’s enforced.

My take is this - if everyone wears then regardless of whether you believe masks protect you or others around you, if everyone wears everyone is protecting everyone.

Some fun FACTS

We moved to a city of 19,413 where so far there has been 1 reported case. Mask wearing in local Publix and local restaurants over 90%.

We moved from a city of 38,659 so pretty much double. Number of positive case 54, mask wearing less than 20%.

DD has an in person graduation ceremony last week. Rules where temperature checks upon entry, social distancing and face masks. Over 650 students and families turned up, the venue did not even try to enforce as less than 10% were wearing masks.they only enforced for the students. On top of that they are holding a graduation party this week for the graduating students and I expect the number of students that turn up to be similar in numbers. I can only imagine how that is going to go!

I will be extremely interested in the next couple of weeks to see if they have a spike.

At the end of the day rules are rules. If masks are mandatory then yes we will happily abide by these rules for our health and that of others around us. It’s also an issue of people accepting those rules. Look at the airline that resumed flights, masks were mandatory then once onboard passengers refused to continue wearing masks so the airline has now suspended all flights again.

Everyone has a choice to make, but please don’t allow that choice to be at the detriment of others.

I hope Miami is included a we have a Symphony sailing soon, but Miami is way behind the rest of Florida in terms of reopening.

Time for you to do some research.

LOTS of clarification on that initial asymptomatic release from yesterday.

They have walked back the "very rare."  Those who are and STAY asymptomatic can transmit in the 15-16% range.

The much bigger picture is that those who PRESYMPTOMATIC and show no symptoms yet are likely some of the largest transmitters since the virus is it's most contagious 2-3 days prior to symptoms.

I defy anyone to determine who is asymptomatic and who is presymptomatic.

Did anyone see the leaked NCL relaunch Excel sheet last night? If true the first sailing would be the Encore on September 29th followed by four ships in October. It included Oceania and Regent as well.

I know something was posted on the NCL Casino Players social media site yesterday and it was quickly removed. The Admins also immediately posted a statement that Only Official Announcements from NCL could be posted and that they had been asked by NCL to remove the post. I never got to see the deleted post, I wonder if it was the Excel sheet you just mentioned?

There's been an Oceania ship anchored off of Cocoa Beach for almost the entire lockdown

Yeah that sounds like it. It seems pretty official - like something that was meant for engineering.
