On cruises that have lost all add on and have gone up in price

Look at the current pricing its about 20% higher than March 2020 so not saving a penny and all add on removed !! Oh dear

I keep seeing people say that but I don't know where they get that.  I'm seeing rock bottom prices.  The cruise I booked for Sept 27 is less than half of what it costs in 2021.  My back up cruise in October was booked for about the same price but a much larger room and several more perks.

I couldn't afford not to take the chance.

Escape is currently scheduled to pull into Manila Bay with crew to repatriate on July 2.  The way things are going it will take at least three weeks to get them off the ship.  The Philippines is expecting another 300,000 overseas foreign workers (OFW) headed home between now and August.  It will be very difficult to get new crew as everyone who goes into Manila must quarantine for 14 days, the hotels are so crowded they suspended any more OFW from coming ashore for another week.  There are no flights or ferries between the islands, so no one can come into Manila to board a ship.  Going to be a mess for months.  More international flights are being cancelled or moved back, only citizens and green card holders for the destination of the flights are getting on board.  Many days only 2 or 3 international flights leave Manila.

Seaman 11 lives in a little fantasy world of his own with no one agreeing with him. I seriously do not believe he understands the world we live in. All he keeps saying are "things are opening up" They are not as far as ship logistics but he can not see it as believes the rubbish written in the trade press. He says he gets off at ports. there are none due to be open in August read the official Caribbean websites. Of course the island would love to have cruisers back but only when its safe not when Seaman11 wants to cruise. things starting on land are not the same as at sea

I have blocked him because he can not answer questions and just makes simpleton statements with no substance. He said I live in cushy world but when challenged he provides no answers

What you write is so true maybe when his cruise is cancelled in August he wil apologise and wipe the huge egg of his his face. Sadly will not be able to see his apology.

All I say is Carnival plan to reopen are now  being changed as I write. NCL have no pans to sail before 1 September 2020 as a large part of their guests Israel and Uk for the summer can not get back into their home countries and this applies to crew world wide.

Until COVID 19 testing is on the spot or a vaccine is available no cruise line will sail with mass market.

You can't compare this September/October to 2021. This year cruiselines need to get pax sailing again. You can bet if the return is slow next year's prices will come down also.

Did you not read the post she quoted? Saying prices are up so the ectra 25% fcc means nothing.  The fact is my sept 2020 cruise is cheaper than the may one i had booked.  I have extra fcc for specialty dining or partial next cruise.

I quoted the post that was relevant , Why do you think I should quote a different.

At the time/post I was correct. You as usual combine posts and make it something it wasn’t.

He also didn't read the line afterwards, I can't afford not to take the chance.  I don't understand why everyone isn't jumping at the chance to get in on these rock bottom prices.  If the cruise company cancels them, you come out ahead.  If you sail you come out ahead.  If the company goes under you get your money back. It's a no lose situation if you are financially able to do it.

I am confused.  If the company holding your money goes under, surely you become an unsecured creditor. That means the big people get first dibbs at what is left and you could get only a few cents in the dollar if anything at all.  Or is there something I am missing?

You can’t afford to take the chance? You you would risk your life to save money? I don’t care if the cruise is free I would not cruise if it was not safe.

Thats fear mongering, i hope you dont go to the grocery store or work next month.  Lets look back at all the ncl outbreaks of covid. oops there is none. just a few cases, that very well could have happened before they boarded.

Not fear mongering at all. What I posted was beyond your simplistic comprehension. I get cheap cruise deals sent to me all the time. I am discerning on what I book. You don’t have to book because it is cheap. I have passed up many good deals over the years. I have impulse control.

yep i was happy to take the extra %25 fcc

Of course if the cruise line seeks bankruptcy protection zero is still zero, because that is what all those FCCs are going to be worth. Passengers are going to be at the bottom of the unsecured creditors pile.

Can you afford to lose 100% of your money of the line files for bankruptcy protection?

The highlighted line above is the misunderstanding. If the line goes under passengers will be at the bottom of the unsecured creditors pile and if they get anything it will likely be pennies on the dollar, but even that small amount is wishful thinking

I would, I once took an expedition to Antarctica with a company that lost (sunk) their ship down there a year earlier.  If it is low cost and has great value I will be all over it and so would most TRUE cruisers.

Yeah, I guess only TRUE cruisers are willing to expose themselves to a novel virus with no vaccine, therapeutic treatment, or pre-existing immunity. Kind of like how only REAL 'MURICANS refuse to wear masks in public despite the overwhelming scientific evidence they offer significant protection for the people around you.

Yeah, essential activity like going to a grocery store for food/medicine that is required to live versus a 100% elective activity like a cruise...same thing.

You need help.

LOL. Buying on impulse does not make someone a “TRUE” cruiser, whatever that is.

First sentence, Correct we concur.  Second Sentence guess it all depends  how the government spins the wheel of fortune, one  month mask bad, next month masks good.  I was way ahead of the curve with the masks, it is well documented that I advocated masks way before the government said we should wear them.

another word for impulse is instinct.  I have the instinct to cruise, boom time oct 12, 2019 nyc bermuda round trip, boom time, Nov1?2019  hnl-ppt, boom time nov 14, 2019? hnl - syd, boom time dec 11, 2019?  akl-syd,  boom time feb15, 2020? msy round trip.

A true cruiser must cruise, "But my life, my lover, my lady is the sea"

Oh no....another thread started by 'Uncle Albert'....perhaps the moderators will note the ridiculous number of his new threads, all with similar themes! 🙃

I would rather hear from Seaman than some of the posters on this board who are unbelievably rude or the ones who can turn virtually any remark into a 5 page tiresome, nitpicking argument.  I, for one, wish the moderators would deal with that.  BTW, isn't name calling against the guidelines?
