Accessible Mississippi River Cruise

Any recommendations? My wife can't do -any- steps/stairs.........

Unfortunately, accessible and river cruising are mutually exclusive.

I suggest you ask on the board here for American Queen.  folks who have sailed on their ships/boats may be able to tell you how accessible the vessels are.  However, the ports might be a different story...

Some years ago, we were checking out both the Columbia and Mississippi river cruises and was told that they all have to be ADA compliant. Unfortunately, Ruth passed away before we booked one and I did not desire to do it alone. Do not remember which lines we were looking at, however their ships did have cabins for the handicap. One of the ships on the Mississippi even offered tours that that were handicap accessible.

There are none to speak of.  River cruises are very up front about not being Fully accessible.

 

i can think of several ports that require many steps to get up to the main drag. I am very familiar with Maysville for instance as my paternal side of the family is from 11 miles away.

That's my thought.  Even if the boats are built to ADA requirements, and boarding is via gangplank, there will still be the major hurdle of the levee, where there may or may not be a ramp or driveway from the levee top to the docking area.
