Travel Insurance for Canadians

I was advised that if I left the country and contracted the covid virus that my insurance would not cover me. 

Have any of you been told this by your insurance companies??? What about our American friends any of these

issues apply to you.I would doubt it would as it is your home,but these are strange times.Thanks

Can't speak to Canadian issues. If you live in the US and catch COVID here, then obviously your standard medical insurance would cover it. I sometimes get a travel medical plan through GEOBlue for international trips. I looked up what their take on it is and they basically said that if you travel somewhere that is under a CDC level 3 - do not travel advisory, or if you are somewhere when a level 3 travel advisory comes out and you do not leave in a timely manner - AND you catch covid, they will not cover it. If you are some where that doesn't have a level 3 adivsory and you catch covid they will cover it.
