When we booked 01.02.2020 this seemed like a nice way to get onboard with Viking.

We can cancel last minute if we are unconformable for any reason.

Would you wait it out to see if it happens or book for March 2020 same cruise.

We will lose our trip insurance (3rd party) $600.

I'm hoping things settle down by September.

Any thoughts?

Thank you!

2020 ?   Perhaps you mean 2021 or 2022.

I doubt things will settle by Sept 2020, but perhaps by Sept 2021.

Also - since this is an international forum,  people are not always certain which date format you are using.  Better to just say "January" or "February"

First, if you want to go, let them cancel you. You will get a much better deal.

You should not lose your third-party insurance. Talk to the company and in this instance, most travel insurance companies are allowing you to move it to a later cruise as long as you have not reached your original travel date yet and not made a claim. Haven't found one yet that won't let you do that.

I just heard from Travelex insurance yesterday (finally!) and they offered us a one time transfer of our insurance which I had purchased independently for our September, 2020 France river cruise. We rebooked the same cruise with Viking for June, 2021. I just had to answer a few questions and provide the new dates. You do have to be patient as I first contacted them in mid-April when we rebooked. At that time I received an auto response that it would be 20 business days before they could respond to my email. It was closer to 30 business days.
