Will Florida cruises start back up in August?

Recommended Posts

I am on 8/29 Symphony out of Miami. I am personally ready to cruise and would love for this sailing to go.

I know nobody has a crystal ball. But if you were a betting person. What is your probability that his will sail?

We are on Oasis & Allure Nov 2020.

Hoping that will be a go?

Sort of thinking things may get worse do to all the people protesting and not social distancing.

Only time will tell.

Since it's  the weekend and almost june 8th and not even a hint of Royal Caribbean putting together a crew for that size ship, I would say your chances aren't good.

You are going to hear rumors from Royal Caribbean Crew members when things are about to happen, right now they are still trying to get all crew members back to their native homelands.

Land based casinos opened today in Vegas which I think is positive for cruises, but nope, rcl hasnt given a hint. I hope rcl comes out with something by the end of the month.

Looks like Mohegan Sun in CT is also having a soft opening.

Here are the new rules,,,,,,,,,,,,,Everyone wears a mask..............Drinks through a straw only.

Based on some of the comments from the CDC in an article in the Miami Herald yesterday, it does not sound promising that cruises with passengers will be sailing to / from the US anytime soon. The comments that they have not yet begun looking at requirements for ships to sail with passengers, and that cruise ships are similar to long-term care facilities, prisons and meat processing plants when it comes to risks of spreading the virus, don’t give me confidence they will let ships sail in the next few months. My guess at this point would be that there is a better chance of the CDC ban being extended than ships will be sailing in August.

Well then I hope we get warning so I can lift & shift.

If things don't look good soon I don't think I have a choice.

They will probably let everyone know towards the end of the month

Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods both opened on 6/1, much to the chagrin of the governor. Neighboring states weren’t really happy either (RI and MA), their casinos were opening later in June. Not sure what they will do now.

COVID cases in Florida are flat.  All major tourist areas are opening  between now and July. Major events are being held in Orlando at the convention center.  Sporting events are coming to Disney wide world of sports.  Florida is in phase 2.

Tourist attractions have gone through reviews already for reopen plans.  There is a plan for cruises, we just don't know them yet.  But cruises will start soon.  August I hope, but it is not know yet.

No cruise line is going to magically turn on the key, and start every cruise on the same day.  But if you are booked from Florida to the Bahamas, that will almost certainly be the first one to go.  Bahamas have a tourism start date in place, and Florida most likely will be at the Phase 3 mark sometime in July, so yes, it is a higher probability now that August might happen.

However, many of the longer multiport trips, might be more complicated to start.

I guess that depends on the definition of flat.

I think the bigger issue is that southern Florida is still a different animal than the rest, looks like PC may be the winner. It’s still a tough call to start getting people from all around the country to converge on one spot, then go home.

Spikes happen after every weekend...…. because that is when it is reported.  Look at the total line....and it is flat

Agreed.  Since around May 11, there has been a gradual increase overall:

I don't see why not. They are far less infectious as receiving mail or getting groceries. I know 2 people that have had Covid 19. You would never know they even had it. One had a "fever" of 99.8 at the worst and coughed 2x over 3 weeks. Unless she was tested, no one would have ever known she had it, even her. As for cruises, I think August will be the start. However, I expect itineraries to change. I have a feeling Labadee and CocoCay are going to be RCL's stops for a while until things clear up in the islands and other ports.

Are Haiti and the Bahamas allowing visitors yet?

Without fans in the stands. Only team players and support staff. NBA all staying in same resort. I think the plan is strict testing each day.

That is what I have read as well.

At least there will be some sports on TV to watch.  I have watched some Japanese Baseball League games and even the last few NASCAR races.
