Iceland COV-19 Requirements

Recommended Posts

This is what I found online:

On May 25, the country will allow those from the Schengen Area to visit freely and on June 15, it will open up to tourists from the rest of the world, including the United States

All visitors, however, must choose one of three options to ensure that they will not spread the coronavirus to Iceland, which has reported only three new cases of the virus so far this month.

The tourists can either go into an immediate two-week quarantine, get tested for the coronavirus upon arrival or present a clean bill of health from health authorities in their home country. Any visitors must also download Rakning C-19, a contagion tracing app.

That is not up to date : https://www.utl.is/index.php/en/about-directorate-of-immigration/news

Restriction to members outside of EU/Schengen may last at least until the end of June.
Currently it's possible to enter Iceland from within Europe if you comply to 14 days quarantine, and testing at the airport is to be developed from June 15th : https://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/news/2020/06/08/up_to_2_000_tests_a_day/

Many practical questions still remains (such as : what happens if more than 2000 people arrive on a given day?).

Sarnia has it.  Doesn't look like US will be allowed until July 1 at earliest.  They've canceled the BOS/KEF flights on Icelandair the rest of this month

Really?! I know several people who have booked flights home to the US via KEF, because it was one of the routes that's been flying consistently. That's going to be very bad news for a lot of Scandinavian expats!

Afraid so.   TripAdvisor Iceland forum is full of updates.  Not good for US visitors

Could you provide a link for TripAdvisor Iceland info?  Didn't have any luck finding it. Thanks.

Americans are currently not allowed in, and Iceland just instituted a mandatory 5 day quarantine for anyone entering the country with 2 separate Covid tests.  As for what the rules will be in the future, it's anyone's guess.

We have done 5 land vacations in Iceland and expect to do many more.  Very easy to plan, very easy to navigate.  But both those phrases disappear from October to April.

May to September is amazing in Iceland, but winter is very long and can be very dangerous
