FAVOURITE PORT OF CALL

Now that there is at least a faint glimmer of hope that cruising will restart in my lifetime I would be interested to hear of your favourite cruise ports.

We have been very lucky to have visited some beautiful places such as Lisbon, Tallin and Copenhagen but our favourites have always been the smaller ports in Norway especially Olden.

Where is your special place?

So many places that I haven't visited yet!

But from the places I've been to, here are some that have left a big impression

Valletta, Malta (like a post card)

Havana, Cuba (like a time machine, going back in time 70 years)

Glacier Bay, Alaska (words, photos and videos don't do this place justice)

To me nothing can beat Venice. But Dubrovnik and Kotor come close.

Those are 3 of our favourite places too - the scenery as you sail in to Kotor is beautiful. To us Venice tops everywhere though and we have been there on cruises 5 times and have also stayed a few days in a hotel on the Grand Canal on 3 occasions - should have been there last month 😢.

Top 5 for us:

Stockholm for the sail in / away

Funchal, Madeira for New Year's Eve fireworks

St Petersburg

Tallin

New York

Although the way things are at the moment even the shopping centre in Vigo is appealing 😁

Another vote for Venice,

DiY walk to Westeras Farm at Geiranger

Havana (especially over-night the atmosphere is electric)

New Orleans  (    "             "              "                 "            )

Tromso

Feeling very nostalgic now..........

Which Island in Hawaii Graham?

It's a long time since I have been, but Maui was beautiful and all I remember about the Big Island was it rained constantly. Pearl Harbour was emotional but I didn't really enjoy Honolulu.

Venice along the Giudecca canal

New York

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Glacier Bay

Not done 3 and 4 but the other 3 would be in my top 10, I would just add Bora Bora, but only because its name evokes  everything about paradise islands.

Kauai was our favourite.

We did the movie tours excursion which was excellent.
