Costa Victoria sold for scrap

It has been announced that the Costa Victoria has been sold to a Italian ship yard for scrap. With RCI scrapping the Pullmantur line, it looks like there are going to be far fewer ship choices when this pandemic is over.

Oh my gosh, I just sailed on it --the very last Cruise before the pandemic.
I wonder what will happen to all the crew

But Costa Victoria is available to book from July to October 2020.

While all Pullmantur ships are available to book from November 2020 to November 2021

Costa Cruises announced it had sold the cruise liner Costa Victoria to San Giorgio del Porto Group (part of the holding Genova Industrie Navali). The vessel would have been sold to Genova Trasporti Marittimi, controlled by the Genoa shipyard. No official mention has been made by Costa's parent company Carnival Corporation. Source

The problem with ownership is the huge running costs and maintenance, not to mention depreciation

I have seen a video on WhatsApp about 40 ships which are on sale, including Pullmantur, but there aren't any buyers.

So 40 old ships are up for sale, while simultaneously being used for Cruise operations

It seems odd that Carnival picked this as the first ship to going to the scrap yard, even before the Costa Romantica, or any of their Fantasy class ships. They could have even transferred it to their other brands like Aida since it's a lot nicer and only slightly older than the AidaAmira.

After selling Costa neoClassica to Bahamas Paradise and Costa neoRiviera to AIDA, a sister company, and then selling Costa Victoria for scrap what is the fate of Costa mediterranea ?
I cannot see it anywhere. It's not available for booking.

Even Costa neoromantica has got only three sailings in August 2020, which are not likely to happen, and after that nothing

So very sad to hear this. Our very first cruise was on the Costa Victoria in the mid 1990s . It was only the second voyage after her maiden , and the ship was beautiful. The trip was for our 25th anniversary and we had a very large beautiful suite. Hooked us on cruising. It was still Italian owned then, and the food was fabulous with many courses. Majority of passengers were Italian too. What great memories and a sad farewell to a noble lady.
