Overnight in port

I have never been on a cruise where the ship ports overnight before. Are you allowed to get off/ on the ship when ever you want while there, or is there a curfew at night & set time to get off in the morning? Wondering how that works if you wanted to stay out later, or had an early morning excursion.

I don't recall having a curfew when we overnight at the ports.

Think of your ship as a floating hotel.  You can come and go as you please when you are docked.  If you tender, they may not run as often at night as they do during the day, but just check the schedule when you get aboard.

We've done overnights in Honolulu and Lahaina Hawaii.  You could come and go as desired.  Lahaina is a tender port and the tender service slowed over night.  On the hour into port and on the half return to the ship.  (or vice versa)

Aloha

Port is open the entire time the ship is tied up.   You  can go on and off as desired.

Car rentals are commonly used,   verify the current parking restrictions.    I've seen people come out in Maui on day 2 and their car is gone-   having parked  at the mall, the night prior  🙂

Do note that CRUZBUDS is talking about tendering at Lahaina, Maui and you are talking about docking at Kahului, Maui.

The OP didn't mention which port, but since CRUZBUDS did we just wanted to clarify there are two ports on Maui.

Great and essential information.    🙂

We've had an overnight in Kahului once also, the ship was open to come and go all night.

Aloha!

  • 7 months later...

If you are docked overnight in Honolulu, Oahu, you can come and go as you please.  You  just have your card scanned when you get on and off the ship as per normal.  Just be mindful of the time to be back onboard when it is time for the ship to leave. 😉
