Regal to be based in Southampton - teamaking facilities?

Will there be teamaking facilities on Regal Princess when she is based in Southampton in 2021?

When Royal Princess was based in Southampton in 2018, there were none (link here). Crown Princess last year also did not. But I believe Sapphire Princess did. So it's not consistent.

 

But also, based on the preliminary EU guidelines, I believe tea kettles were some of the things that were suggested as to be taken out of cabins to keep disease transmission low. So it really is yet to be seen if they will be included.

The only facilities on the Regal were either Room Service or a trip to either the International Cafe or the Horizon Court.  As fire is one of the greatest fears on a ship I doubt there will be any in the cabins.

Other cruiselines such as Cunard and P&O put the facility in their cabins.  We have the drinks package but it would be nice to just boil up a kettle for early morning tea.

When a cruise line puts tea kettles in cabins, they are approved as not being a possible source of fire.

 

Passengers are not allowed to bring them because they might not be an approved type.

Had that facility on the Sapphire out of UK a couple of years ago but I believe the new health restrictions will have them removed,

Isnt't there a hot water machine in the buffet area?  They have several different types of teas sitting in a box by the hot water machine.

We did a Mediterranean cruise out of Southampton a few years on Celebrity Eclipse and our cabin had an electric teakettle, etc.  It was on the already-too-small desk so a real inconvenience for us non-tea drinkers.  I never thought to ask them to remove it.

I would ask them to remove it and I'm a tea drinker! 🙂  Traveling by myself, why sit in my cabin, I go to the IC for coffee or tea. 

 

I can wait for the amount of time it takes me to go to International Cafe, someone brings it to me, another plus, why make my own?  I'm on vacation!

But surely the joy of being on holiday is the first cup of tea in the morning, sitting in bed, with no need to get up.

🙂  Everyone is different,!  I love getting up early, if I'm awake, I'm up, morning person, get up and greet the day! 🙂

Totally agree with you.  I am on vacation; why should I have to make my own tea or coffee;  head to IC and have them fire it up.  Cheers

Exactly, but some people do like to hang out in their cabins.  On my longer, 30 day cruises, paying double, I'm inside so I want to be out and about, too!

Yes, but surely it is better to have your first cup of tea  of the day in bed, or sitting on your private balcony, rather than the scrummage of the Horizon Court.

I'm talking early here, never have to wait long and sailing single, balcony is the exception rather than the norm. 

 

I don't wait in line or call it a scrummage at the IC.  I would not walk up to the Horizon, rarely if ever do I go there.  Long before the current issue, I stay out of elevators, avoid buffets.  I've been on board for 30 days and maybe gone to it once or twice, not my thing.

We are all different.  As Brits, we like a cup of tea before getting dressed in the morning, hence we like to have a kettle in the cabin. 

And we will never be up any earlier than 8:30 !

I get it, too, the exception rather than the norm.  More times than not, more men than women having an early cup of coffee!   

 

I've had women tell me, "I'm so glad my husband found an early a.m. coffee buddy"!  One couple I've kept in touch with over the years, more than one cruise with them, she is not a morning person, he is, gives her space.  I could always count on her late night being in the casino, or the IC for a snack!  They've been married a long time and do their thing, don't mind me hanging out with them sometimes.

Ah, that explains the teakettle in our cabin on the Celebrity Eclipse out of Southampton as I mentioned above!

I'm so lucky.  every single morning my husband gets up and goes to the International Cafe and brings me back a tea and a sweet treat to have in bed.   I guess that's the epitome of having my cake and eating it too 😆

To brew a decent cup of tea boiling water is required. The hot water dispenser in the buffet area does not provide boiling water. It is best to not say anything regarding the 'tea' in the boxes.

The "tea" you get from room service is basically a tea bag with hot, but not boiling water.  Awful!

We have cruised a few times and almost always take our thermostatically controlled tea pot. Never have had a problem. On the other hand, we have had our power strip confiscated on last couple of cruises (Got it back at the end of the first B2B cruise only to have them take it back when we reembarked 🙂  Not taking it anymore but will take kettle until told to stop.
