Please stop the Suite/Tier Negativity

All but one of our cruises have been in suites, including the first one. And I have met others who do the same. I only have so much vacation time each year so we make the most of it.

I started cruising in inside cabins in the 1970’s , but almost 70 cruises later we now only cruise in suites , once you book a suite you really do not want anything less at least we don’t, same goes for flying when you get used to first you do not want coach. Of course it’s all about what in your budget, you can still have a great time in inside cabins.

Yeah, but the negativity seems to be increasing so I'm not sure how happy he will be. Lol

It seems to me that many times the biggest "snobs and elitists" are not those in D/D+/Pinnacle categories and/or Star Class Suites, but those who are not.

A range of factors are in play. Whenever you get a diverse grouping of people, in terms of education, career, income level, what they value, background, cultural norms, etc..., you will see people run afoul of each other's sensibilities. It's not an issue of right/wrong, more a matter of how you react to seeing people say or do what sounds ridiculous to you.

Imagine how a homeless person might react to seeing someone walk out of a country club, blow his nose in a $20 bill and toss it in the trash.

I book inside staterooms (had a Jr. Suit honeymoon, had a balcony a couple other times) and always fly coach (had 1st class once years ago). Spending double the cruise cost for a bit larger room, bathtub and balcony (yes, double cruise points, too) Jr. Suite sounds nuts to me. And any talk of 'Star Suites' makes me want to roll my eyes and think 'must be nice to have money to burn' (or 'are you nuts if you don't, and still spend that much on such a thing?).

But if I discuss this with my wife at a table at a restaurant, perhaps our server listening in is a single mother working hard for a bit above subsistence living, and as she walks away she rolls her eyes and thinks 'must be nice.'

One person's splurge is another's ridiculous extravagance. People should not be rude or insulting to each other, jealousy is called the green-eyed monster and covetousness made the 10 Commandments for reason, and your point is well-taken. But diverse people mixed together will react in their minds to what they see others doing, and occasionally, a little of that reaction leaks out.

Sorry.  This makes no sense.  Adding a new dining venue should not cause an existing dining venue to decline.  No cause and effect here.

You are correct.  Everyone knows the decline in food quality is due to shorts and baseball caps in the MDR

I had a great time in our inside cabin almost 30 years ago. 😉

Those are pretty rare, to rich for my Prime blood

Mine as well, but I do actually know someone who has that status and lives a lifestyle I could only glimpse in my dreams, so they do exist.  I don't think she ever pays for her suites.  They were always complimentary through the old Casino or other player's programs that she belongs to.

My last cruise was STAR. 🧞‍♂️

Maybe that's what caused all this 😱

So it's your fault.

...... and I assume your first ever cruise as many posters say it's not fair for suite guests to get the perks they as loyal rcl cruisers earned.

It's just not fair :P

Wow. 😇

I know my 1k booking that inside cabin should be worth a lot more than those $13k suites.

I demand equal perks.

Lol not sure who posted it, about it not being fair to royal loyalists. I'm sure someone might be a first time cruiser in a suite. Good for them. But I'd bet most aren't. I think its carnival that gets the most first time cruisers.

Whois being negative?  Suite Guests seem to be happy with the direction Royal was moving. You must be talking about someone else. 😇

Certainly you’re not suggesting those that book Suites should sail Celebrity. Just asking because I have heard that on here before.

I done suites on several lines , I love rccl mostly because of the entertainment which I always love, but msc yacht club and celebrity have way better perks suite lounge that serves drinks all day and much better wine, now celebrity new ships have a private pool area for suites msc yacht club as those same perks also. Also celebrity suite restaurant is on all there ships and much better service and food than rccl CK.

Then how would you explain the decline in MDR food quality on ships that have no Suites Dining Room ?  IMO, the decline in MDR quality (which I totally believe to be true) had nothing to do with Suites in any way.  It is just corporate-wide cost-cutting decision.  I hear they’re putting together new menus. Maybe it will “come back” to previous standards.

You took the words out of my mouth.

And it’s not up to us to determine who has access to what lounge. 😇

No only RCI can "determine" that...However...we can certainly express our disappointment at losing perks that were once available to us...like the CL for D+....Now renaming them to SL's and allowing us no access. That was a loss to all the loyal D+ members that opt to sail in JS's or below. Sorry you don't understand that feeling.

Sure, but crap goes downhill. Pins will be accomodated one way or another.

Wait...I assume you're not referring to D+ members as "crap"...because we definitely lost out when the CL were renamed.

I'll be going on my 2nd X cruise next July in a sky suite and the perks that come with it are amazing. My first X cruise was in an Aqua suite and we got a choice of two perks...I'm starting to love X after 27+ cruises with RCI.

Please don’t force me to paste the T’s & C’s of the C&A program.

My brother, who is P, once told me if I understood them, we wouldn’t be disappointed. He was wise. 😇
