Still looking for a 2020 cruise?

Marella Cruises has announced it hopes it will start sailing on Oct. 2 from Corfu with the Marella Explorer, I guess the emphasis is on the word 'hopes'....?

We are already booked for the 2nd. See they have set out an update on how they will run today. 

If it's on we are going to go. 

Life's a risk everyday, we are going to have to live Covid till or if a vaccine is available

Sincerely wish you good luck and Bon Voyage. We manage one decent cruise a year and ours is for early April, if we lose that one I do not fancy much our chances of finding another cruise in our bracket for 2021. 😒

I note that they have stopped informing passengers of the age segregation that they are implementing. As we are over the age limit we would miss the interaction with younger passengers. 😕

They did indicate on the Tui site that the over seventies would be segregated for dinning and in the entertainment areas but as with everything, at the moment, it may have changed.

Morning all had a general Email from Marella  that they will sail with fewer guests on board, and maybe a one way system, also staff will serve you at the buffet and bars will be table service only, also you may be asked to wear a mask both on board and in port what do you all think.

Hi Howard honestly feel we have finished with cruising until a vaccine is found, we will probably follow you with land based but don't think that will be anytime soon. How about the team⚽. Hope all are safe.

Sorry !  But I would not want to pay thousands to be segregated, ushered around, or treated like a child.  It will be some time before I next cruise or the introduction of a vaccine

Our feelings exactly, but do understand cruisers who have only just started this absolutely brilliant type of holiday wishing to cruise again. We will obviously miss cruising but after well over fifty under our belts think we have had a good run.

We too have decided that we will wait until after vaccines are generally available, and even then we will only go on a cruise that doesn't involve flying.

On a parallel theme I see that Aida are planning several cruises starting in early September from Kiel.

Hurtigruten are advertising cruises from Dover for 2021 round the British Isles including Scotland and Ireland. Only 500-600 pax. Looks very interesting but the starting cost is almost £3000.

Viking Cruises (Ocean and River) has suspended all cruises through Dec 31st 2020.

 

I think others may follow.

We have cancelled our cruise for Feb 21 and transferred the deposit to a land based holiday September 21 as we do not think a vaccine will be available until mid 21. Don't fancy this segregation lark at all!!

Hi P.J we are going to do the same closer to the time, ours is June 2021 in the U.S  so do a land based from our local Airport .

This will be followed like a hawk by the media. I'm trying to recall where I read this but I think the organised excursions are being offered at an all-in 5 tour price of 100 euros

We just don't think its worth considering or talking about until a vaccine is available. No one in their right mind would want to join 1000-2000 people on an enclosed ship, together with all the obvious restrictions necessary.  We agree with Terry2,  but unfortunately without flying it certainly narrows your choice and in our case the sooner we reach warmer destinations the better.

We have two cruises booked for July and August next year and if they get the all clear myself and Mrs Jim The Scot will be on them

I can’t see Marella doing any cruises for the rest of this year.

Certainly do not think any cruises scheduled to sail from the Canaries wil sail this year.  Covid infection rates are rising steadily there, and there are no signs that the Spanish government intends lifting the cruise ship embargo anytime soon.
