anyone gone to local casinos?

We drove to Las Vegas and stayed at Paris.    Masks are mandatory and they have them available at each  of the entrances.   They also had hand sanitizer stations all through-out the casino.  Large buckets of cleaning wipes were available and we were able to feel very safe by wiping down the slot machines where we played.   Outside we saw many not wearing masks, but we mainly just stayed inside Paris and the connected casino Ballys.

Crowds were very light during mid-week, but we hear they are more crowded on week-ends.   Elevators had markings to allow just four per elevator, but we usually waited for our own elevator and had no problems.    We did feel safe and are planning another trip back.

I have been to Atlantic City twice this summer and casinos were open and running. Some had a thermal imaging thing when you walked in ( I think hard rock); others had hand sanitizer stations and masks are mandatory. Every other machine turned off; seats also removed by those machines or taped off.

I went to New Orleans for work a few days ago. I didn't go inside, but I noticed that Harrah's has placed slot machines outside in a fenced area. Kinda weird to be on the sidewalk and see people gambling outside in the 90 degree heat.

The outdoor gaming area at Harrah's New Orleans is for smoking.   The city of New Orleans banned indoor smoking a year or two ago.

The Harrah's in New Orleans is really a beautiful property.  Love the casino and the hotel rooms are really nice too.   We love to stay there before and after cruises.  We are able to walk to the cruiseport from the hotel there.

I learned something new. I hadn't been to New Orleans in years and wasn't aware of the smoking ban. That makes sense. I thought it was covid related, for people who didn't want to gamble indoors. Thanks for the information.

Sand and Seas,

How did you find Paris?  I really like the location of that property and I read that the rooms were recently renovated.  However, I also read on Trip Advisor that some thought the rooms were not really clean and that there was NO drink service while gambling in the casino.

I agree with you about New Orleans.  And the people are soooo nice there.

Last time we were in NOLA it was on a cruise (Celebrity Reflection).  Didn't leave from there but visited there from FtL via cruise ship for Mardi Gras.  We went to the casino one night and for some reason exited from another doorway and got completely turned around and couldn't figure out the way to the cruise port.  I went into the hotel to ask and the very, very nice Conceirge insisted on walking (and it was cold that night) me and dh practically back to our ship.

We've stayed there once also, and I agree the rooms are very nice and I love NOLA.💓.I always seem to win at that casino too  (hope I haven't just jinxed myself.)

I was in Las Vegas in early July, walked the strip and felt safe inside and outside casinos.  I will only play those with plexiglass at table games.

Locally, I've been to Harrah's Chester/Philadelphia and fell safe there as well.

Plenty of wipes available to use before and after touching slots/tables.  Mask mandatory of course.

We love the Paris Hotel and Casino.  We have stayed there pre Covid shutdown and after and haven't had a problem with the housekeeping of the room.  You do need to know that during the current Covid situation, the rooms are sealed with a sign saying no-one has entered after being cleaned/sanitized.  Then, during your stay there isn't any housekeeping.  We had no problem getting some extra towels, etc.     I'm fine without daily housekeeping if I have plenty of towels.

Drink service in Vegas is strange now as governor ordered all bars and bar-top machines closed.  They have a lot of rules to keep you socially distanced.  Slot machines are spaced out or some are turned off.  You can't stand behind the table games and watch.    You can get drinks while playing but at times service was sporadic.    Some times we had drink service coming by very often while playing and other times they seemed to miss us.  You could always ask for a server to visit your area and they will send someone.   Word is that they believe the governor will allow regular bar service to reopen soon.

Agree, we went there a few years ago and really enjoyed everything about the hotel and the casino.  Adding to our trip is that it was Mardi Gras time.

Have any of you gone to your local casinos (if open). Which one(s).?  Did you feel safe?

We've been to Vegas twice (Caesars Palace and Paris) and Atlantic City (Caesars) once since reopening. Currently, mask compliance is good. Social distancing.... mostly non-existent.

How did you find the crowds in Las Vegas,  Sand and Seas, Mike_DeA. and BirdTravels?

I keep reading reviews about the low class and trashy crowds.  Over on TripAdvisor that's all they post about, including videos about fights, even at Wynn. Also people who are not handicapped renting scooters and then terrorizing people by racing and running into them.  And, of course, the smell of pot everywhere.

Supposedly they (Wynn) will be raising their rates to try to combat this.

We went to Paris LV for two separate mid-week visits.  Definitely quieter than the week-ends we read about.  In early August we did see some of the drunken scooter crowd but not too bad.   Felt very safe at Paris.  Ate at Paris's open air 2nd level 'Beer Park' overlooking the strip and Bellagio fountains.  Very strange to see so few cars and people on the strip.  We did not go outside the resort in the evenings as we had heard some of the reports.

For our 2nd mid-week trip in late August there were fewer scooters and it seemed much calmer.   We walked over to Caesars for a great lunch at Gordon Ramsay's Pub & Grill.  Other than that, we stayed at Paris & the connected Ballys.    We didn't notice any pot-smoking odors anywhere, but I've read about it at other hotels.   I'm glad we weren't in LV over Labor Day as that sounds like it was a crazy last week-end of summer crowd.   We are pretty good at 'social-distancing' ourselves but we definitely felt crowded a couple of times by some groups.

I do think the lower rates brought a different crowd to Vegas during the summer.  There was plenty of security and management keeping an eye on everyone but mostly for mask-wearing enforcement.   We did see them kick out a young couple who wouldn't wear a mask.   We plan to go back in October and stay longer so we will be there over a week-end then.   Overall, felt very safe from the virus there.

Oh how I wish.  We are still in our second lockdown with nightly curfews.  Really at end of our tethers and needing to go to casino, out for a meal and most of all CRUISE.  Will be. Few more weeks before we can even dine out and casinos, well who would know when they will re-open.

I stayed at Hard Rock AC for a few days when they opened and they had thermal imaging, 2 people got flagged when I was coming back in from the boardwalk, they had them walk through again and then told them to move to the side...about 15-17 feet away from the people on line. I hung back and watched security tell them to leave.
Rooms were sealed with tape. I don’t remember if we had housekeeping service but I was able to get extra ashtrays, towels & toilet paper when I saw them in the hallway.

Resorts only had a sign with a bunch of questions about fevers, where you traveled from etc...I was not impressed with those standards.

I am heading back to Hard Rock soon, I will update if I see any changes to my prior trip.

I went to MGMGrand Detroit last Wednesday and today.  Pretty much the same procedures as have been mentioned, except no temp check upon entering (which the Indian casinos up north do) and every fourth machine open with the three in between locked down.  And no smoking except in a designated area.

date night/night on the town. Limo service, to Graton resort casino &spa. Had a marvelous time, four course dinner, casino vip played black jack, pai gow, craps and then headed to the poker room. Met a S F giant's fielder and got an autographed 1k chip. Place was clean, ran smooth and convenient, they didn't miss a beat.

I went to Foxwoods this weekend.  There is still no smoking allowed in the casino.  You could smoke in a few designated areas.  There is no valet parking yet.  All in all, we had a good time.  Everyone was doing what they were supposed to do.

Since you were there on a weekend, how busy was it? Was it easy to find a machine to play since they have many shut down in order to social distance players? Were guests complying with the rules by wearing masks everywhere? Were employees right on top of anyone who wasn’t? Did you stay at one of the hotels? How was that experience?

Considering doing a casino trip in November including Foxwoods and the safety precautions sound good but have been seeing mixed comments about guest compliance.

Foxwoods was busy, but not crazy busy.  We were able to get on the machines that we wanted.  We stayed in the Grand Pequot Tower, which is my favorite!  They have the heat sensors when you come in from the elevators.  Everyone wore their masks.  There is plexi-glass between the machines, or every other one is off depending on where you were.

We felt totally safe.  Everyone seemed to be complying with the rules.

Good to hear. I will be trying to go on weekdays to hopefully encounter fewer people.
