Nicholas Kolaric Posted September 10, 2020 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2020 If you ever sailed on the old Pacific Star from P&O in 2006, what was your experience? Any complaints? Sailed on her in Jan-Feb 2006
Nicholas Kolaric Posted September 10, 2020 Author #2 Share Posted September 10, 2020 EDIT: Any complaints besides the rather obnoxious and ear-splitting whistles/horns, located on the funnel and radar mast?
Rare ColeThornton Posted September 10, 2020 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2020 Just a suggestion but you may want to also ask this on the P/O forum. Heidi13 Posted September 10, 2020 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2020 Since she was built in 1981 as the Tropicale, the location and noise from the whistles was consistent with every ship I worked on from that era. Just be thankful your cabin wasn't behind the Bridge when the fwd whistle sounded. Noise wasn't the only concern as the vibration wasn't much fun. sail7seas Posted September 10, 2020 #5 Share Posted September 10, 2020 Does she have a Carnival signature whale tail?
Nicholas Kolaric Posted September 11, 2020 Author #6 Share Posted September 11, 2020 Sail7seas, not anymore. Since she joined Costa cruises in 2001, the old Tropicale adopted the cylindar type funnel used by Costa and has since kept this funnel shape. If anything has changed, it is just the paint and logo changes. I also noticed that the stern had an addition added to acheive a square look, a design choice I suppose by P&O when they bought her in 2005. I have video footage, as per a P&O cruise video from 2006, of the ships 2005 refit in Palermo, Italy.
