not staying logged in

Count me in - was having the 'half logged in' problems for awhile, easy enough to work around.  Yesterday found myself completely logged out, with no ability to even have the login fields pop up.  No luck in desktop mode on my phone either, didn't try on an actual computer.

Realized today that I can successfully login on my phone via  https://boards.cruisecritic.com/login/ in incognito mode - not optimal but I'll take it, I guess.

Many thanks for posting this!!...been having trouble since last Friday and your suggestion is the only thing that has worked. 👍

Very frustrating...fingers crossed it's fixed soon.

Thanks again!! 😊

Chrome on Android on my phone is nearly impossible to use with the site right now. The login button doesn't do anything when you click on it. Thanks to Virga's suggestion upthread I was able to log in via the linked page in incognito mode, but that's a hacky workaround at best.

I'm glad it's helping some folks!  It's been really frustrating, but I'm glad it is working this way for the time being.  I didn't realize how addicted I am until I couldn't log in!  There are still a ton of people posting, I don't understand why it's only some of us struggling, but I'm glad to have at least a half useful workaround.

I am not sure what change was made since yesterday, but thank you!  I was able to log in this morning using Chrome, not incognito, and have stayed logged in all morning.  I am on a Windows laptop for reference.  Indexing seems to be working as it does take me to the last post I have read and when I try to get out of a thread, I can, as opposed to being put at the top of the last page I was in as it has been doing since last week.  I had manually deleted my cookies for this site yesterday, so started fresh this morning.  Thanks for working on this problem.

Yes, many of us have had this happen as well.  It all seems to be related to whatever problem is going on and still has not been fixed.

Thanks.  Same problem still happening today.  I cleared the history, refreshed the page, and then was able to log in.

Please just understand that it's not uncommon to go a day or so without any issues.  But it doesn't mean the actual problem has been fixed.  And I'm pretty sure that if @CC Help Jennthought the problem had been fixed, she would let us know and ask us to let her know if we still have any issues.

I am completely aware of that and was just sharing that things are working for me, just as I shared that things weren't working.  No where did I say that the actual problem was fixed, but something has been changed that worked.

I'm not trying to argue with you.  I'm just saying that based on my long experience with this issue, the fact that something is working for you today that wasn't working yesterday doesn't mean anything has been changed.  It's just that you were lucky today.

Good luck tomorrow.  ☺️

This has apparently been an elusive problem for CC for some time.  Beginning on Saturday, I could  not post on the roll calls and then discovered I also could not log in.  I would click it but nothing would  happen.  I googled CC log in problems and discovered that it was  problem with the cookies, and they recommended deleting all CC cookies.  Did so.  Didn't work.  Finally, today I downloaded Edge, which is, for now, working.

Is anyone else still having problems and can tell me that there is hope for returning to Chrome?  Or would it be a problem because this laptop still has Windows 7, and the new CC format doesn't recognize it?  For now I can use Edge, but I would prefer to go back to Chrome.  Any suggestions?  Thanks.

I am using an iPad and have been constantly logged out almost as soon as I try to look at something. It was so annoying that I almost gave up on ever using Cruise Critic again. Finally, I cleared my history and cookies and so far I have been on longer than I was previously, which was one minute!!!!

So you might try clearing your history and cookies and see if that helps.

I constantly got logged out using Chrome and switched to Firefox for it. Works like a charm except that it loads a bit more slowly than Chrome.

So, the problem appears to be primarily with Chrome.  I have to admit that Edge loads much faster than Chrome.

Thanks  for your replies.

I have problems with both Chrome and Edge.  I've cleared cookies and history numerous times. I even uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled it.  No go.   Sometimes it works in incognito mode and sometimes it doesn't.  For a while my laptop worked and then it didn't.  The problem is on CC's end.   They don't seem to be too interested in fixing this.   Even CC Help Jenn couldn't log in yesterday.

I have been on the Nieuw Amsterdam for the past 2+ weeks and have frequent login, logout, and reply issues with Safari, Firefox, & Chrome on my iPhone. It's been really frustrating to say the least.  All I seem to be able to do is keep trying.

Interesting to hear the different issues.

We’ve discussed this on the “Daily” and one solution has arisen for many of us.  ….

Log out and close your tab.  Do not use your history, bookmarks, whatever.

Do a google search for cruise critic holland america ask a cruise question, click and log in.

Seems to have worked a number of times for many of us 🤞 this helps.

For me, on an Ipad when I switched to google chrome and had to log in, it worked.  As soon as it didn’t, I went back to safari and logged in (tab was closed) and since then it’s been ok 80% of the time.

As discussed in this longstanding thread to which your comment has been moved, the problem unfortunately exists across all browsers and devices.

Trust me, Firefox won't prove to be a long term solution, either.  Firefox has these same issues both on Windows and Android.  It's just a matter of time until you get the 'poison cookie'.

I've noted a lot of people here switching browsers, or browser modes, and having relief for a while, only to have a particular 'solution' blow up soon enough.  I believe what you are all seeing is that by either deleting cookies or moving to another browser or browser mode, you're starting 'fresh' with regard to cookies, and just waiting for the inevitable to occur again.  I'm convinced that either cookies being sent or the interpretation of those cookies on the server end is at fault.  Once this problem starts in any configuration, it never goes away and stays away by itself.

Again, if whatever group is running this system would like to have copies of the cookies in place for analysis when this problem occurs, I'm sure a number of us are able to do so and would be delighted to deliver them to you.
