Our latest HAL casino offers are 100% nonrefundable

The last 2 mailings I've received from HAL state,

"This promotion is 100% non-refundable from the point of payment and you are not entitled to any refund, payment, compensation or credit."

Our previous offers were refundable. In this day and age, there's no way I'm booking anything that's non refundable.

But don't the casinos offer free Cruises?

Yes, but when booking an offer for a free room, you must pay all taxes and fees up front, cabin upgrade fees, and usually $200 per person which comes back to you as OBC once you are on board. Our last discounted 14 day cruise offer ended up costing us $1200 in deposits.

It's still worth it provided you don't lose any money in the casino.

Not if you change you mind and lose a large deposit.

We just cancelled another HAL casino cruise because we ended up with a better offer (non-casino) from Princess which includes drinks all the time, not just in the casino.

I think Princess has much better shows, entertainment and activities compared to HAL.

In which way is HAL better than Celebrity or Princess?

We've only sailed once each with HAL and Celebrity. We prefer Princess.

Just received a Princess casino offer of free stateroom and $250 free play.  They require a $200pp non-refundable deposit which comes back as OBC.  Tempting, but we are not ready to risk the $400 on a cruise we may not feel taking before 12/15/2021.

We have 3 cruises booked with Princess in 2021. Late February (I doubt it will sail), Late May, and Late October.

I booked a 19 day Panama Canal for april 2021 hoping it happens. No risk really just another credit for later if it doesn't 620.00 cad for 19 days couldn't help but book it.

We were considering this sailing as well, but my wife and I both agreed that we simply prefer Princess over HAL, even if it costs more. We kept asking ourselves, "What good is a "free" cruise if we're not happy with the facilities, activities, food & service."

Princess treats us well, and we're sticking with them for now.
