Just want to know

Spoiled Rant: Booked Edge for Thanksgiving and at this point I'm fine with going or cancelling. I just want to know for sure either way. I know these are first world problems and there are so many people with issues far worse but I thought most people on this forum could relate.

In all honesty, I doubt that cruise goes this year.  IMO, cruising isn't happening until, at the earliest, March 2021.  That's based on the assumption of the vaccine is out by late December (which is what many doctors, including Fauci, have guessed it to be).  Either you cancel it on your own (if you can get a full refund right now) or wait it out to see what happens.

Plan A... going on the cruise.  I suspect that the cruiselines are as fed up as We The People are and have every intention of taking whomever is left and getting back on the seas. They won't be ABLE to say yay or nay until the last minute.  If you are flexible, you very well could be on one of the first ones back from US waters.  I'm on Apex, 2nd PLANNED sailing on resumption. Someone gets to be the first to sail, you know.  Think positive.

Plan B... cancel and have peace of mind KNOWING you are NOT going.  If you need to have rock solid plans... that is the best gamble. But, be prepared for the sick at your stomach feeling knowing that you could have gone IF it goes.

Plan C...flip a coin, heads you PLAN to go, tails you cancel.

Sorry, but even if the ship sails, I would not want to be one of the first passengers to try it out.  However, I’m grateful for those who will, so that the rest of us get an idea of what we can expect when we do decide to cruise again.  So, I hope you sail and please keep us up to date while on-board.

Sure I can relate, to a great degree, without question....

Yet, not to the rant, just not knowing if I would be going or not. At this juncture I would plan on not going and if The Edge sails I would be dancing down the pier to the ship awaiting C-19 test and boarding...

Otherwise I would be dreaming of when I can board next and plan on that...

We're on the Nov 14th sailing and while we have said that we won't go if it happens to sail that's not a 100% final decision. I guess we'll have to see what all the protocols are and make a decision based on all the facts.

I'm writing this as I lay in my hotel room in an Atlantic City casino hotel. My husband and I have been coming every weekend since the casinos have reopened in mid July. We started with a 1 night trip and as we gained confidence in the procedures we extended our stays for up to 3 nights.

We take all necessary precautions but if something seems risky and unsafe we do not participate. We have even started indoor dining.

We make informed fact based decisions on every thing that we do. When to restart Cruise vacations is no different.

Could Edge sail in November?  Certainly possible.

Using the cruiseline proposed guidelines that a return would first be short cruises to private islands suggests a 7 day Caribbean cruise not likely next month.

Don't know which cruise but many Caribben ports are not open.

At this point you have made final payment so unless you are totally stressed out why not wait a couple weeks?  Everyone has a different comfort level.  By then you will know.

I’m not too concerned about protocols for reasons that I won’t talk about. I have made final payment so I guess if it doesn’t sail I will just get my money back and save it for our Alaskan cruise that may or not sail next summer. It’s the not knowing that’s so frustrating

Not arguing but I learned to not say definitely something is going to or not going to happen. I’m looking at it as there’s a 50% chance of going and a 50% chance of not going

There's a 0% chance of going and a 100% chance of not going. It's time to face reality.  Sorry!

We cancelled our March 2021 cruise bc the not knowing is getting too frustrating.  And we don't want to compromise our experience, i.e., shortened cruise, change of ports, cruise line only excursions, etc.

We rebooked for 2022 (Lift and Shift was a downgrade), and are going an AI instead. We feel relieved that we made a decision and actually have something less ambiguous to look forward to.

From what I read the best possible scenario is permission is granted on Nov 1 BUT the cruiselines will need a full month to transport crew and train them.  There may be quarantine requirements from some international crew.

So, deductive reasoning tells me there is little chance that passengers will step on a ship this calendar year.  The logistics and training alone will be a huge endeavor.

Please post links to the objective data that you have to back up that statement. If you don't have a statement from Celebrity (since they are the ones making that decision) you are just guessing.

We have cancelled/had cancelled 5 cruises between now and next Sept. Like you, I'm fed up with the uncertainty of it all. If I'm spending a lot of money I want to get excited about it.

We have cruise credits to spend but will leave it until the last moment before expiry

OK, I'll call it my educated guess then.  But believe me, Celebrity will be the last to let you know.  And that's not a guess, that's my personal experience.

I can't cancel my November cruise, it's past final payment.  I'm waiting for it to be cancelled so I can get my money back.  I don't think November cruises are realistic given the necessity to assemble and quarantine crews and the uncertainty as to whether or not the CDC will extend the no cruising order.  December is a faint possibility, but I'd say 2021 is more likely for limited resumption.  Since I can drive to the port for a Caribbean cruise, it's no big deal to me whether it goes or not.  And I'm retired, so no issue about time off from work.

Beyond that point , I just cancelled my 1/30 out of San Juan and they asked me why. I said leaving the ship only on the cruise line excursions and masks required everywhere but eating and my state room isn’t my way of cruising the Caribbean. Next cruise is 2/23/2022, 10 days on the Millennium. I may book in later March a Windstar cruise out of SJ. Different protocols.

My opinion is that cruising will not resume in November and that cruising in December is iffy.  We cancelled our December cruise before final payment.

Our December cruise is paid,  including airfare.  Waiting to hear from travel agent on canceling for refund
