Memories on this Date

A year ago today we visited Naples on the Koningsdam,   I will share some photos from that day visiting the Villa Poppi or Oplontis in Torre Annuziata, followed by pizza in Napoli.   Hoping others will join me in doing the same, to tide us over this year.  I

 I’m not finding anything for this time of year - land or cruises. October just isn’t a month we have traveled in since we went digital. All that’s there  in my October photo queue is the antics of a very naughty puppy.

 

But here is a garden picture taken a few days ago from my Dad’s community. It was well over 100, but otherwise beautiful.

TiogaCruiser, I also rarely travel out of state in October because late September and October have the nicest weather for the year here at home!  (except for 2020 with all the smoke!!)

Ten years ago we were on a self guided, three week walking trip thru Tuscany. We started outside of Volterra and ended in Florence.It was wonderful!

Wonderful pictures!  Thanks for sharing.  Italy is on our bucket list since we have some Italian blood lines.  Hopefully the pandemic will ease and vaccines will be reliant.  In the meantime more pictures will have to suffice.

We were on the same cruise and likewise enjoyed some wonderful pizza in Naples.  Great memories.  Wish we were back there today!

@bennybear you must have been on the cruise just before ours.  We boarded the Koningsdam on October 18 for 39 days after 26 days on the NS.  Great cruises!  I'll check my photos 🙂

So glad to have others share!   Nice to meet others in our cruise and after.   That was our last day on a ship sadly, as we wait here’s the final sunset.   

We continued the trip last year in Italy and have some memories on this date from London Kew gardens and Crete, Greece on other trips I’ll include.

A year ago today, we were in Rome, getting ready for the Best of the Mediterranean Cruise. We did the Colosseum that day-the third day of sightseeing-and were VERY tired with very sore feet!

We hit our all time high in steps, over 27000 inRome, walked to the Vatican and back😂

6th October and it looks like we were in Crete porting in Iraklion.  We took a taxi to Knossos Palace.

A year ago today we had a "turn-around-day" in Rome.  We stayed on the ship, as there were severe thunderstorms  predicted in the area and we were there several times during that trip.  I had brought 2 collapsible vases and we picked up flowers for the cabin at various ports.  That day we got these flowers in Civitavecchia and had a wonderful dinner in the Tamarind that night.  Sigh....

I don't think this is restricted to HAL; let me know if I'm wrong.  This time in 2011 I was on a Blount Small Ship Adventures trip via the Erie Canal from New York to Montreal.  There was a break in the canal from spring storms and October 6 there was a bus bridge between ships on either side of the break.  While our new ships were being readied for us we spent most of the day in Cooperstown New York.  Here's the Baseball Hall of Fame:

 

 

The other main attraction there was the Farmers Museum:
