Akaroa or Lyttelton?

Deciding between itineraries... Akaroa vs Lyttelton? Also Australia to New Zealand or vice versa?

Lyttelton is port for Christchurch.  I would choose Akaroa because my ship didn't disembark passengers there, so I'd love to return.

Thanks for the response. Akaroa looks wonderful but it seems to not be an option for the dates I think I've decided on. Oh well.

Given the choice then Akaroa would be for me.   The French influence is unbeaten in NZ.   If you must go to Christchurch then it has to be Lyttelton.

How about doing a B2B; Akaroa one way, Lyttleton the other.

 

As an example (I doubt these will go) look at Princess/Australia & NZ/ Feb 2021/ Regal P/9-15 Days.

There are day tours to Akaroa from Christchurch. It's about 80km, 1.5 hrs drive south.
