I think that, generally speaking, you are correct - a barge carries freight and that is what the puffers also did.

Basically yes it’s a steam driven sea going coal carrying barge. Watching it steam down the Caledonian canal was an experience. So your turn dogs4fun. CA

Which, hooray, covers another canal we haven't had so far (I think). Would love to see that barge and the canal. The coronavirus upended my plans for a return to Edinburgh last year - oh, and will so this year I have just realized.

 

Which gives more time to dream and find interesting places closer to home. I try to be optimistic, not always succeeding in my endeavour.

Notamermaid if and when you go to Scotland you must go to the Forth and Clyde canal and see the Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies both beautiful but in different ways. CA

Yup, lightweight! I fully admit that I can hide behind a not so thick tree. 😁 Disadvantage is that I will never manage a schnitzel from Figlmüller or get through a standard river cruise ship buffet in an attempt to try out all the food. Oh well, my lap is still big enough for my neighbour's tomcat to sit on, he thinks, so that is comforting. 🙂
