Hotel in Galveston

The last time I sailed out of Galveston, we stayed in Houston and took a car service to the port the morning of the cruise.  Galveston looked so pretty that we decided this time we’d stay there the night before the cruise.  Any suggestions on nice hotels in Galveston?

I like the Hilton and San Luis, San Luis has a great high end steak restaurant and piano bar. Also might want to look at Moody gardens . We will book one of the three hopefully for our February cruise.

Others to consider would be the Hotel Galvez on Seawall Blvd and the Tremont House downtown. Both were developed by George Mitchell, aka Mr. Galveston.

The Tremont House is on the NationalRegister of historic places and features a wonderful roof top bar.

The better hotels fill up fast for the day before the cruise , I would book ASAP, some of the hotels I was thinking of for end of February are already full.

I tried to book Tremont but it said you have to book at least 5 days.  Still looking.  I’ve got several months since this cruise doesn’t sail until Aug.

Mardi Gras, 2021, in Galveston is Feb 5 - Feb. 16. During that period hotel rooms are much more expensive and a minimum number of days is required. Of course, it all remains to be seen, with Covid 19, if cruising and/or Mardi Gras will happen.
