Izzywiz Posted October 25, 2020 #437 Share Posted October 25, 2020 Good morning and happy 'winter time'. Hi Grapau, I also found that Princess try to show 'appropriate' films on their sailings. We had 'South Pacific' when sailing from Bora Bora to Tahiti, 'Australia' on the trip from Sydney to Perth and 'Madam Butterfly' on the Japan cruise! I hope you don't mind me starting the Ns. I struggled a bit with this letter but found a few... Izzywiz Posted October 25, 2020 #439 Share Posted October 25, 2020 my next Ns are all on Norwegian Cruise lines. We did a lot of our early cruises with them until the line stopped doing the unusual itineraries at times when we could travel. We were always confined to school holidays until I retired from full time teaching in 2004 and my husband retired at the end of 2012. Leaving New York on NCL Dreamward. Our first cruise on a large, modern ship Dreamward was later renamed Norwegian Dream and we sailed on her through the Kiel Canal several years later we also sailed on Norwegian Star and Sun ....as well as Norwegian Crown which later became Fred Olsen's Balmoral. I had my biggest cruise bargain ever on this sailing which was from Miami to Valparaiso in 2005. We had booked the cheapest inside cabin but, when I rang NCL with a query about something, the agent asked if i would be interested in upgrading to an outside cabin. I asked her how much and she said it was £11. I said "£11 per person, per day?" and she said "no. £11 total for the cruise". It didn't take long to accept!!!!
Izzywiz Posted October 25, 2020 #440 Share Posted October 25, 2020 My last N also has a story....sorry to bore you all! I have been friends with Jan for 70 years. Our fathers worked together and became best friends so we girls grew up together. Jan and her parents were a tremendous support to my dad and I when my mother died when I was 12. My Dad took us both on a cruise on the Shaw Saville line ship, Northern Star, to celebrate our 21st birthdays in 1969. Jan was my bridesmaid and I was hers, 2 weeks apart, in 1971 and she and her Canadian husband moved to Canada where she has lived ever since. We keep in touch and have visited each other over the years. We were hoping to cruise together in 2021 to celebrate our golden wedding anniversaries in June and have all our fingers and toes crossed for a speedy solution to this horrible virus. Izzywiz Posted October 26, 2020 #450 Share Posted October 26, 2020 My next 'o' os for old friends. we met Evida on Royal Princess in 2008 when she was one of our table companions and she was delightful company. In 2011 she tapped me on the shoulder as we sailed under Sydney Harbour Bridge on Sun Princess and we then met up on a few occasions for a drink and a chat. We were playing scrabble on deck on Celebrity Constellation when Evida appeared by our side so, once again, we met up occasionally for a chat.....a lovely lady This s a bit tenuous but it is the outside deck on Splendour of the Seas and finally, Oriana in Andalsness, Norway when it was 'Oh' so cold
