MMDown Under Posted October 16, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 16, 2020 Doing a happy dance for Melbourne this morning. Keep up the good work. You and your government should be proud of your achievements, in extremely difficult circumstances.

eamondzhang Posted October 16, 2020 #3 Share Posted October 16, 2020 Thanks But we paid for this dearly in terms of cruise - only Sapphire left and I honestly doubt the ship will come back this season 😞 Michael

We can only hope for a vaccine so we can start cruising again in the 21/22 season.
MicCanberra Posted October 18, 2020 #5 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Great stuff, if only they can keep those pesky Kiwis from spreading it now.🤪
OzKiwiJJ Posted October 18, 2020 #6 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Looking good again, Melbourne. Hang in there. Remember Sydney had 12 days with no community transmission then the virus popped up again without warning. Stay safe.
MMDown Under Posted October 18, 2020 Author #7 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Happy dance for everyone in Melbourne. Lots of restrictions eased from midnight. Too many to mention. You can now travel 25 klm from midnight. Will that get you to the beach/water, Don? Will that allow everyone living in Melbourne to see your loved ones? Melbourne people can now visit their second homes to prepare them for fire season/floods, with council certificate to say work is necessary.

There were 2 meetings last week where the CHO for Victoria attended (remotely) and he agreed the NZers could come to Vic (according to the Federal Immigration Minister). The left hand does not know what the right hand is doing and they all cannot remember what they did 2 seconds ago. Oh and by the way the average virus rate in NZ is 0. Right and lockdown is horrible and we are all so sick of it. Sunday 1st Nov - the shops will be full of people, better to wait a day or so.
Docker123 Posted October 18, 2020 #11 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Used the mapper from The Age to see where I can go at 25km. Not that I can drive for more than about 15 minutes. A lot of my zone is very wet.

Definitely, the waterfront in Melbourne is lovely (but you can usually say that of any waterfront). I am not quite on the waterfront but very close and we have decided to pick up a takeaway coffee near Port Melbourne tomorrow and walk around there for something different. OzKiwiJJ Posted October 18, 2020 #15 Share Posted October 18, 2020 Fantastic news. That's better than I expected. Hopefully people will be sensible though. Enjoy your trip to the beach, Don.
possum52 Posted October 18, 2020 #16 Share Posted October 18, 2020 A reasonable amount of our allowed area is the bay as well. We could drive along Beach Rd to just after Brighton to the north and along the bay toMt Martha to the south. Leigh

Libraries are reopening.
Blackduck59 Posted October 18, 2020 #20 Share Posted October 18, 2020 So anyone with family within 50 km could each go up to 25 km and meet in the middle. Early spring would make for a lovely picnic everybody bring yummy picnic stuff and share in a park, all outdoors and be careful with distance

So, can go to nice spots, recreate, catch up with some friends or family. Now, if I only had some friends. 🤪

I always smile when I think of the older lady who was able to drive to the Gold Coast from Logan, when people were restricted to 50 kms. She lived on the southside of Logan and drove 50 klm then stopped right at the most northern beach. The Govt made the limit 50 kms to stop city people swamping the beach. Can you go to Daylesford or Dandenong Mountains or are they Regional?

This is a lovely time of year in Melbourne for a scenic drive to picnic with family or friends (limit on numbers).

Son and his family live in the same suburb so we do see them, daughter and her family lived just outside the 5km radius so easily in now. Leigh
