There are going to be a lot of cancellations and rebookings today.😇

Yes I am calling Club Royale as soon as they open to see if casino-comped cruises are eligible, and if so, how do I cancel and rebook them.

When we did the Presidents Cruise on Freedom out of Barcelona, during a lunch with the officers and Royal Staff, we sat with 4 P’s from Europe. They said they made Pinnacle the hard way. They referred to the US Pinnacles as Florida P’s. Lol

Maybe now we will have the COVID P’s?  😇

Where was square one - this is a brand new promo.

Who knows. First it was double points (points x 2) and then 1 extra point per night. That’s not double for Suite Guest or Solo cruisers.

Based on Double points, we would be D+ after our next cruise, 10 nights.  Now with either 1 extra point or newly booked cruises only, we are back to square one. No big deal. I just thought it would be fun to be D+ to throw in my 2 cents. 😇

Well this explains why the prices on many cruises have tripled up to March 2021 sailings.   Final payment is approaching on those sailings and they don't want people to cancel and rebook and get double C&A points.  I bet that after final payment you will see those prices come back down to earth.

It's very disappointing to say the least that us loyal cruisers who have stuck by them and not cancelled our sailings will not receive the same double points.

Until it was posted recently there were no details on what RCI meant by "Double points" - when you go off assuming things you may be disappointed, like the folks who assumed it would be for existing bookings as well.

I think the two are entirely unrelated otherwise you would have seen all ships increase in price not just some ships.

Lol I have not cruised on royal since solo got 2 pts for regular. Decided to come back and cruise locally just last February... boy does my timing stink. I'd done calif to hawaii on celebrity and alaska on carnival and some ncl etc.

Now I come back and all I've managed is to get cancelled, and ships swapped.

I’m really not disappointed. The only advantage for us becoming D+ is mostly the additional discount. We are not tied to C&A points as so many on here are.

Someone said Double Points. I assumed, if true, would be double points for all. My bad but no sweat.

Hopefully we find out more this week.

Not sure what else is there to find out - seems like all the details are already in this thread (or on RCI's web site). Now, speculation (and complaints), there'll be plenty of that.

Biker, who wonders how many different threads on this topic will be started before the end of the week.

Not at the current prices.

Very true. With the old pricing I could have taken two cruises and received the same number of points for a lower price than I would pay now to get the points with one cruise.

I was referring to hopefully getting a confirmation on which ships will be sailing. Because if my Feb cruise is cancelled, I will look for a new one in 2021 which is offering the double points.  One more sailing at double points would bring me to Diamond status.

Sorry, I keep assuming folks are talking about the topic of the thread. There are plenty of other threads in which that topic is discussed and when some real news comes out, plenty of new threads will be created.

I only have 2 rcl, 1 ccl booked in 2021. Idk I'm in a rush to book more even at double pts until this covid thing resolved. Dallas went back to red alert, high. And I'm in the age group to worry.

I'll be diamond plus in 2022 unless I get more cancelled. It's a long way to pinnacle.

56 points for a 14 night cruise in a JS and above or will it not apply to cabin grades who already get double points?

Good news if you want to make the next level especially Pinnacle but the number of Diamonds will increase massively with the knock on effect of overcrowded DLs which is often discussed on here.

When suite  class sailings first came out they had the same thing.  Double points for booking it.  I ended up with 28 points for a sailing in a crown loft suite.  I remember having to fill out a form online  to be eligible for it prior to sailing.

There are other benefits to enjoy , not just a lounge for a couple hours in the evenings.

It is a generous promotion, and especially for those who had 2020 sailings canceled and are sailing in 2021. (As long as it is for existing bookings also). It will be a boost to all levels, especially if the criteria to reach each level remains the same.   It will be nice that so many people may have the benefits of crown and anchor society higher tiers.

airlines are also bumping up loyalty levels.  Delta is holding on to your status for an additional year.

Hello,

It's now gone 2.00pm in the UK and 9.00am in Miami and still  nothing is showing on the UK website.

Call me a cynic but I daresay in the US prices have gone up so this offer isn't as generous as it first appears - six of my next year's cruises are now dearer than when I booked them.

What a surprise.

Regards,

Cublet

Even though all the executives say that 2021 Bookings are higher than anticipated, they must have dramatically fallen off in order to offer this.  I think they are relying on loyal cruisers to start booking again, but I think with all of the l/s going on there is not a lot of room for additional cruises.

Thanks for posting this – I had not seen any details.

I am considering a cruise in late summer 2021.     The extra points are a nice bonus, but if the cruise has substantially gone up,  I’ll look for something at a different time

Not sure how folks can cancel and rebook, wouldn’t they lose their deposits?
