Intercity train from Civitavecchia to Naples

We are going to be getting off the Norwegian Epic in Civitavecchia.  The ship docks at 6:00 AM  (I know that doesn't mean that is when we will get off the ship).  There is a Intercity train from Civitavecchia to Naples that leaves at 9:24 AM.  There are only 2 a day that are direct to Naples and the next one isn't until 5:08 PM.  Do you think we could make the 9:24 AM train.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Agree with CruiserBruce except that we are assuming that nothing changes because of COVID.  Normally, disembarking in Civitavecchia is very simple with no Customs or Immigration issues.  Ships are usually cleared within a half hour after docking and then it is up to the vessel how they conduct disembarkation.  As a general rule using express disembarkation (where you carry off your own luggage) gets folks off the ship very quickly.   The only potential problem is getting from the ship to the train station.  If the internal bus system is operating normally (and early enough) you can use the bus from the ship to the Largo della Pace transfer point where you get on another bus that takes you to the train station.  Here is a link to that detailed info:

Just beware that if you would need or decide to use a taxi from the pier to the train station you will find that most (if not all) of the taxis will refuse the short haul fare.  Walking is an option but it can be a very long walk (especially with luggage) through the huge port to the pedestrian exit that is closest to the train station.

Yes, no worries.

If you' want to be extra-cautious you could disembark unassisted (haul your own bags from your cabin) ahead of the herd & possible lines.

But, as per Hanks's comment, you'll probably be relying on the port shuttlebus to the gate, where you switch to a local bus to the station. Bus to station takes less than 5 minutes, but time taken for the rest of the process is extremely variable.

ps Don't mis-read Hank's "ships are usually cleared within a half hour after docking". That's half an hour to clear the paperwork prior to the start of disembarkation.
