martinitime1 Posted October 25, 2020 #1 Share Posted October 25, 2020 I saw that Princess has added the option to email all the docs for the OBC instead of just mail/fax. My question is, does HAL have their own form like Princess does, and have they added an email option as well? New Princess form attached for reference. CruiserBruce Posted October 25, 2020 #2 Share Posted October 25, 2020 No form required for HAL. Just fax, or snail mail, a copy of your proof of ownership (with unrelated info blacked out, but proving you...the person on the reservation..owns the 100 or more shares) to HAL. Fax is 1-206-501-2620. As of pre-Covid, no email option.

The agent gets a commission for simply being my sister, she can do it.
JeffElizabeth Posted October 26, 2020 #9 Share Posted October 26, 2020 LOL, our OBC for owning Carnival stock is worth more than our Carnival stock right now. (Kidding!)

Works easily and no paper or equipment (beyond the device you use to access CC) required. I do remember the days when HAL did accept emailed requests for the shareholder benefit. Wish they would again.

Seems a fairly simple thing to do.
NCTribeFan Posted October 26, 2020 #13 Share Posted October 26, 2020 I know I'm repeating myself from other threads, but just because one line does something doesn't mean every line under the corporate umbrella is going to follow suit. They're still separate entities. I've always emailed mine to Carnival. I've always received the OBC regardless of the type of fare booked. I have friends who have received theirs while sailing in complimentary cabins. HAL denied my request back on Zuiderdam because I was booked under a discounted casino fare. I don't expect my B2B "free" sailings in January to happen, so I'm not even going to bother sending in my request because I'm sure they'll deny it. I could whine about how Carnival allows it on discounted fares so HAL should too! But their cruise line, their rules. But, yes, emailing it is easy. But so is faxing using email. Just block out most of the personal info on the statement and attach the pdf. Free technology is available. Prefer to spend a few minutes finding the software I want than printing and mailing something! 1

They're still separate entities. I understand what you're saying here and I agree in principle. I will only say that, in the case mentioned here with Princess and HAL, these 2 lines, Seabourn and P&O Australia were placed in an administrative "group" called "Holland America Group" specifically for the purpose of combining some shore side administrative operations and achieving a synergy or "economy of scale" effect. It would seem logical to expect the sort of administrative activity like adding shareholder benefits to OBC on cruises on these 4 lines could easily be done and be the sort of thing this synergy is meant to provide. So, I guess I do expect to see something along this line happen. Maybe not with Carnival Cruise Line, but they are not part of the Holland America Group. That said, I'm not holding my breath either. 🙃

leerathje Posted October 27, 2020 #16 Share Posted October 27, 2020 I received a Players Club offer for a free Oceanview 7 day cruise, and we took the offer, but upgraded. DH has shares, and we were going to apply the OBC...but now that I look at the "fine print" he may not qualify. Anyone try to use their shareholder OBC for Players Club? L. If you have an offer from Players Club with the free or dirt cheap cabin (not the casino discount), the CCL OBC will not be permitted as stated in the terms and conditions. But, by all means, give it a shot and let us know if you succeed 😉

As I mentioned earlier, the ONLY time I've ever been denied my CCL S/H OBC was the greatly-reduced casino offer I took on Zuiderdam. Since I expect my Jan "free" B2Bs to be cancelled, I don't see any point in requesting the OBC. But maybe I'll send in my statement and see what happens. But I anticipate it will be rejected.
