Can you see her from South Shields if so from what point. I think the video Graham took last year of Oceana was from S Shields. If she's only there until the end of January, I doubt I will get to see her.

We were on the pier at South Shields to see Oceana leave.

The customs House is probably the best viewing point from South Shields.

Ideally you can get very close to Azura at the North Shields terminal.

I would prefer to go to North Shields to see her, but that will have to wait for a while.

The crew are living on the passenger decks and using the passenger buffet, gym etc.

It therefore makes sense for health and safety reasons to have lights on. Also identifies itself to other traffic.

Good to hear that the crew are using the passenger facilities in these difficult times for seafarers:

Let’s be clear, they only have one bar, one pool, one buffet restaurant. The Spa’s, casino, shops etc are all closed.

All it’s really done is give the crew some more daylight and a bit more space - before anyone thinks they are having a ball.

On arrival on board, all crew are still subject to two weeks quarantine in their cabin. Then they start work / get access to the ship.

It’s not a life I’d like.

In normal times I'd agree but, I have to say, I'd gladly give it a go right now 🤣

Really, to have to work, presumably long hours and every day AND be confined to a ship.  I agree completely with Molecrochip,  but it is good P&O has given them better living conditions on these terrible times.  I think it is the least they can do.

Crew will feel the difference once the ship's are sailing again and some do not even have access to passenger decks during working hours so do not even have any access to light or fresh air then.

It was a tongue in cheek comment. I fully appreciate that their life on the ship is probably far from pleasurable. I'll keep my comments to myself in future.

There they go again, promising something over which they do not have complete control and the press make it even worse  as people read the reports as a certainty 😠

The logistics company i work for has been advised of restrictions until July as far as lockdown restrictions are concerned and freight/people movement across borders well past that.

There is only 100 crew members on Azura at the moment.

Worth pouting out that Azura now publically shows as at Newcastle through 23:59 on 28/02.

Any indication of the announcement you expected on Mon or Tues this week?  I know you said it was a moving target, but has it now moved to the back burner?

I believe the talk of Quarantine hotels which the broadsheets ran with on Sunday may have spoked P&O - how would that apply to cruises?

The data is looking good but with no visible sign of restrictions easing on the previously notified date in February, it must be frustrating for P&O.

I assume that means a statement will not be made for a while, so the extra info. can be assessed and plans changed accordingly.

Perhaps next week then?

Don't do that. Tongue in cheekness was quite clear and appreciated .🤣

If all arrivals were required to isolate for 10 days in hotels you could say it should apply to cruise passengers if the ship has called at any foreign port, minus the number of days transit from the last port. However the new isolation rules look like they may be only a partial solution involving certain countries and I find this approach worrying, hopefully someone will explain the science behind the decision.
