I found the info for Kent and Medway here Covid-19 vaccination :: Kent and Medway Clinical Commissioning Group (kentandmedwayccg.nhs.uk)

There is a map down the page and clicking on the symbols gives you more information for that hub

Thanks have tried the countydurhamccg.nhs.uk but no info of the vaccination hubs ☹️

According to the Daily Fail (so a handful of salt needed) elderly people in Stockton on Tees  are not turning up for their vaccination, as they do not want the "foreign" Pfizer vaccine,  and want to wait for the Oxford vaccine.

I sincerely hope that this is just poor journalism,  because if true it is just incredible that people can think like that.

This time last year I booked a coach tour to come up for the Edinburgh Tattoo. Of course, it never happened, so I just rolled the booking over for the same tour this year. Last I head, the Tattoo is still on for this year. At this point, nobody can say for certain what will happen.  I hope the pandemic reduces to a level where we can have some freedom this summer. It’s awful for everyone in tourism and hospitality. If this all goes on for much longer, you have to wonder what will be left when we finally emerge from our restricted lives

If you haven’t been to the tattoo before then you should enjoy it. The piper on the ramparts sends chills up your spine. The weather in August can be a bit Scottish so bring along sunscreen and a hat as it could be very hot and of course rain wear and a plastic bag to sit on as it could of course be very wet - in fact it can be all of these thing in the space of 20 minutes.

Where are you staying, central Edinburgh or out with a bit?

That surely must be wrong Wozz. No one could be that petty minded and xenophobic.

You don't need to go all the way to Scotland to enjoy the Piper. This was on Brittania in the ,....... Caribbean 🛳️🤔

Good tip about the plastic bag to sit on!

We are staying in Drymen. Apart from the trip to Edinburgh, there’s also tours to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, and my other main reason for this tour, a visit to the Kelpies.

I hope it’s possible for this tour to happen, as I love Scotland.

Have you been watching the club turns Avril ?

Why don't people just say what they mean ! :classic_unsure:
Can you imagine going into a local pub and saying to your mate , "I'm glad to get out of our house the Mrs is in a right mood, in very pettifogging mood today."
Tell me about it, my Mrs took on a very sardonic tone when I said "I was coming to the pub with you" I don't understand she is usually quite mellifluous about it !
Anyway shall we partake in consuming one of those exiguous pork pies with our pint ?....... It's never going to happen !
Real world .. Glad to be in pub our lass has done nowt but Nit-pick owt I say ... I know the feeling , our lass was snarling  at me with a weird look on her face , she's normally sound as a pound ,but not today . Anyway does tha fancy a small pie with your beer ?

Can't get darn yit mi owd cocker, but if thy owds on a bit al si thee darn thea suin, or rate? 😊

Yes I knew that word.  Probably used in Dickens I imagine.

DH said quite possibly - he has that sort of a background (which I don't).  I thought it might have been with his involvement in the legal world, but he thought not.  He understood it as fogging an issue with petty matters, but maybe that was not completely accurate or just that there are different uses - perhaps evolved over time.

Well, that's the 3rd word we've learnt after nincompoopery and detrisus.Who needs home schooling.

In the meantime, you could pop on your speedos and run up and down one of your beaches down your way ,holding a beach towel aloft singing  🎶Swords of a Thousand Men🎶 .

It works for the lad in the Haven TV advert ! :classic_wink:

I watched the Mighty Cruise Shiips  programme on the Hurtigruten cruise to the Antarctic yesterday, and some passengers were actually swimming in the sea.  Looked far too cold for me though.

Not the same but were in the jaccuzzi in Spitzbergen one year and quite comfortable getting in and out, but sea water would not appeal to me.

The 24 hours sun makes a big difference.  Even in the alps I remember playing snowballs in a sleeveless dress one nice sunny day when on a school holiday.  We were in a mountain pass so high and I assume the white snow must have reflected the sun as there were no signs of it melting.

My son did. Hurtigruten cruise to Antarctica at the end of 2018.  He loved it.  They did swim in the sea but under strict supervision and with orders to only stay in for one or two minutes, to wrap up and hurry back inside etc etc

For a while on here we had the word of the day. My offering comes from a speech made in Westminster yesterday.

pettifogging

I understood the sense of it in context but it’s not a word I have come across. Is it in common use down south? Guesses as to what it means without looking it up?

I believe there to be a fair amount of pettifogging takes place on our forum, but I am far too polite ( no gasps of surprise at the back please) to point the finger ar just who posts the most pettifogging posts.

Albeit I would never advocate believing everything you read in the press this is interesting. Or not as the case may be.

Think Britain has vaccine problems? You should see the EU, writes ALEXANDER VON SCHOENBURG | Daily Mail Online

I read it and hoped it was accurate, but the author is well known for being anti EU, which is why he applauds Brexit.

With some of the things I have seen and heard this year nothing would actually surprise me. If it was down to me anybody that didn't turn up without a damn good reason wouldn't get a second chance.

I had reason to visit my GP  this morning and although they have no firm info on when they will receive their first vaccine, they do intend to be involved with the roll out of the Oxford/AZ vaccine. She thinks only the major centres and hospital will do the Biontech and Moderna ones.

I think that was the plan from the start, storing at -70oC is a bit too specialised for small local surgeries, etc to deal with. A friend of ours has just posted that she has received hers, she is a registrar in Sheffield, she didn't say which vaccine she got.
