Scared...But Booked - Oasis - October 24, 2021

Well we had our July 2020 and October 2020 Cruises cancelled (sad but thankful) and well...quite frankly...we are going crazy.  We need a vacation.

We received a great deal in the mail for October 2021 and now that there may be a vaccine (at least one I would be willing to take after January 20th)...we thought...WTH, so we booked and we are super excited.

Oasis of the Seas (we have done Allure)

Junior Suite

So let the fun begin....

Any info on the Junior Suite

Dining (No Dynamic, right?)

Sailing out of Jersey

Taking all info....thank you.

So...do you really think the potential "vaccines" are going to be any different after January 20th???  Wow

Yes...I do.  I don't trust ANYTHING being distributed until then...too much politics in the vaccine and those that distribute.  To each their own...that's my POV.

Oasis has ck, cant book ahead of time, but JS can book on space available basis I've read.

I sure would hope by oct the vaccines are distributed to everyone. I'm thinking today I always book a cruise during cold winter and now I'm not booked until april 25, though everyone is negative here on cc for my date.

I'm dying to do oasis class and hoping rcl does the terminal in Galveston and sends allure. You lucky dog.

Be sure to get the flu vaccine also, that can kill you.  And then research what other vaccine you may be able to get...just in case.  I still cannot figure out why everyone thinks this covid vaccine is the cure all and everyone who gets it will be just fine.  It will not work for everyone and now I have the government and who know what other state and local officials telling me what I need to do.

I booked this morning thru casino free offer for Oasis 9.26 7 night sailing with OV large balcony.     I am confident that things will be much better by September.    I have various cruises booked thru January and September.   I am pretty sure our Jan and Mar sailings will be cancelled but I have a good feeling about the others.

There is a lot to do on Oasis.   If you like Allure you will like Oasis.

Cape Liberty is also a very easy port too.    I live in PA and like sailing out of Cape Liberty or Baltimore.    Each port is about a 2 hr drive for us.

You do realize they will be the same vaccines before and after the 20th?

Pfizer is shipping the vaccine from Belgium to the US, getting ready when FDA approves it.  It's the same vaccine 2 months ago, as well going forward.

That was pre Covid.  Don’t be surprised if JS’s lose access to CK because of social distancing requirements.  It has always been “if space permits” fir JS.

  • sigh. Covid is not a flu. Never has been, never will be.
  • Per John Hopkin's latest research, Covid is 20 times more deadly than the flu.
  • None of the scientists are saying that the vaccine is the cure all for covid. In fact, they are cautioning that it is not a miracle cure. It will take quite some time to achieve herd immunity through the vaccine, especially with the high percentage of folks not willing to take it.  However, it is a start. It is showing to be 95% effective. But masks and social distancing will still be a thing for awhile.
  • The covid vaccine has shown promise that it is more in line with a MMR/Chicken Pox/DTAP vaccine that it will provide long lasting immunity with occasional boosters.

I get the concern.  After January 20th, there won't be immense pressure on the FDA to approve the vaccine. It does have people wondering if the FDA will cut corners due to pressure from the White House.

Having family members actually working on the vaccine, I can say that the scientists I know are all of the highest integrity and only want to make a vaccine that works while doing no harm.  They will not bend to political pressure from either side.

I guess I must be wanting the vaccine enough and if it hasn't had side effects more than a day feeling really bad or a sore arm sign me up.

Pressure them, I dont care, I want it, and a normal world where I can quit worrying. Lots here sound paranoid to me, but I really want the vaccine. I want a world without masks.

I couldn't agree more.  I'm so sorry this ever became political because it never should have been.

If it is at all reassuring, the FDA Director was called to the WH today (many were presuming there would be added pressure) and the meeting ended with the situation being the same as when he went in. He did not bend to the political pressure. The external review board of experts (VRBPAC) is meeting next week and will provide their recommendation to the FDA after thoroughly reviewing all the Pfizer/BioNTech data.

Also- I listened to the CDC ACIP call today and it seems as though they intend to have a data feedback loop for adverse events from the vaccine as they are reported from the millions.

the scientific community isn’t taking this responsibility lightly. They only get one chance to build public trust. They aren’t going to let the Cheeto in charge mess it up.

Mind sharing the source on your last point? This is the first I’m hearing it and would love to read up more on it. Thx

I think the vaccine will work but it's not going to happen overnight like some think it will.  The logistics of getting it distributed to the facilities is a task in itself.

Cured, many here, including myself will urge you to do your OWN research and stop watching the news and listening to the media.  What do you mean it's not the flu?   If you do NOTHING, the survival rate is 99.97%.  The magic vaccine is 94% effective.   So all of the sheep that follow what the media is pushing down your throats, great and continue.   Have a look below at the chart.  Those are Ontario numbers.  Do you see a sharp incline?  I don't.  WHAT PANDEMIC?  Media propaganda.......

I always get the Flu vaccine and I will likely take the COVID vaccine.  I can't guarantee it will cure everything, but right now, where I live....the hospital is full with COVID patients.  I don't believe anyone is forcing you or anyone else to stay home or not work or not travel or even take a vaccine.  The decision is yours.  I just hope for the rest of us...people make the right decision, I plan too.  Have you been on Oasis?

I agree with you whole heartedly. Trying to gain scientific knowledge through the MSM is often pointless and biased. It is far better to read actual peer reviewed articles in accredited scientific journals.  Unfortunately basic search engines such as google and bing don't usually take you to the actual science.  Better to use one of the academic search engines to find actual science. They are often available through your university or your work place if you work in a science environment.

What is your favorite academic search engine? My university uses JStor and PubMed among others. But I am always open to learning and would love to know the search engine that you use that seems to be so comprehensive on covid-19 since you avow such knowledge of covid.

Agreed!!  What are some other search engines?  Google and mainstream engines filter and block the "real" content.  Don't get me wrong - I'm not a conspiracy theorist, just stopped believing everything I heard.  If I insulted you, I apologize.

Like all of us, simply looking for the "real" answers and would like to get back to cruising SOONER than later.

Actually I find it anything but reassuring that our cdc has to stonewall this until xmas while UK can decide much faster. I find their decisions to be political and think that's why they said will take the rest of the month, weeks, not days to decide because they are too busy eating in restaurants and golfing to get busy analyzing.

I've really devoped a dislike of the cdc. Yes I think it's about politics.

Here's something to ponder :  Most everyone in the US and Canada are longing for a vaccine that will "solve this problem", whereby everyone feels better and safer that they have a vaccine in them that makes them LESS suseptable to "getting sick".

Why did China recover WITHOUT a vaccine and no body said anything?  They have no cases.  (either that or they're not reporting any)......

Hm................

China has a slightly different approach to social distancing. They bolt the doors from the outside of people that are positive. And they enforce masks just a bit more harshly. 😷
