MsTabbyKats Posted December 11, 2020 #26 Share Posted December 11, 2020 My 9/21 B2B was canceled. I wanted to just get the $$$ back. DH thought it was kind of silly to throw out $600 (that would be my casino budget) and that our lives wouldn't change if we got the refund. So I booked for 9/22. The PVP transferred all my "money paid" to the new booking and didn't ask for any additional money for the deposit. (Asking for more $$$ would have been a deal breaker.) I guess if you think you'll ever cruise again, and you don't need the money back....rebooking is the way to go. I plan on not thinking about this cruise....not pricing...not checking...not changing cabins. Just...let it be........
Markmom18 Posted December 11, 2020 #27 Share Posted December 11, 2020 My story. Only 4 cancelled in 2020. I book 1-2 years out for financial reasons. My April 2021 Panorama been paid off for awhile, though I don’t anticipate Newsom opening up the Port. And I’m assuming Carnival will cancel anyways. A couple days ago I booked Panorama, Havana patio on Deck 5, for our (fingers crossed) August vacation. I paid the full deposit. When April gets cancelled, I can pay off August and assume hope Carnival will still be giving the $600 OBC. 🛳🛳 Bobbi p.s. Our son & friends haven’t heard when they will be called back .... where we live, Los Angeles County, is in a huge Covid surge right now. Just like the rest of America. He gets EDD, just grateful he’s home & safe. Yeah, seems no matter how old he gets, I still am Mom ❤️❤️

We currently have a cove balcony booked on the Mardi Gras in October. I am going to call and transfer the money I paid for our April cruise to our October cruise and upgrade to a suite! I will still have some money left over and OBC from the cancellation. It's a win win for me. Now..... if we can cruise!! Now that sounds like a plan. October seems like it should be far enough away that things will have settled down at least somewhat, especially with the vaccines being available. We can only hope so, anyway. Good luck!

This is the 5th cruise cancelled for me and was to be my first Ultra cruise as well as my first Platinum cruise. Like most everyone else, I am bummed. I have another cruise booked in October, and I could transfer the money to that cruise. But I am not sure I want to. If I do, not only will my cruise be paid for but I will have over $1100 in OBC PLUS the $600 in OBC from the cancellation. That is $1700. That is another cruise or a real good time in the casino... lol. I am at a loss. 😞 I just don't know what to do at this point. We just keep looking forward to the future and schedule another cruise 🙂
FlaMommy75 Posted December 11, 2020 #30 Share Posted December 11, 2020 We are in the same boat (well, non boat technically🤣). My Mardi Gras cruise has been rescheduled 3 times now as well as a summer 2020 Horizon 8 night cruise I've now rescheduled 3 times...both paid in full. Because both of those cruises were pretty pricey and we are sailing as a family as 4, I have a ridiculous amount of money that Carnival is currently holding. However, even if I did finally give up and ask for a refund I am not sure what that would even look like because the payments were spread over multiple credit cards, gift cards, Am Ex offers, etc. One cruise I rescheduled for Thanksgiving 2021 and the second one (the Mardi Gras) I am going to hold off and wait at least 60 days to see how things go.... Not ready to give up hope yet.
St.Pete Posted December 11, 2020 #31 Share Posted December 11, 2020 The likelihood of bankruptcy increases with each passing month of cancellation, all while some people are banking their money interest free with a corporation. Be careful wishing for that OBC, which will evaporate when CCL has to pay its creditors. The gamble may not be worth it.
