MarcusRex Posted December 30, 2020 #27 Share Posted December 30, 2020 Just now, voljeep said: $ 11.80 is correct Huh...TIL. I think I read it but didn't assimilate it. I don't usually drink much anyways, so the amount never caught my attention, particularly that the prices are listed in USD on the ship but charged in CDN to my account, so I just assumed exchange rate and kept going. Well now...! Ok, so revising my numbers: Difference between OLF and BSE on 7 day cruise: 41.40$pppd Savings if you take BSE vs paying for each component separately: 95.27$USD - 41.40$USD = 53,87$USD pppd Savings if you take BSE vs Premier Soda and Coffee + WiFi + Gratuities: 48.07$USD - 41.40$USD = 6.67$USD pppd Savings if you take BSE vs Classic Soda +WiFi + gratuities: 36.27$USD - 41.40$USD = -5.12$USD (you LOSE 5.12$USD per day) So, on a 7 day cruise, the price difference for me (I usually take classic soda, Wifi and gratuities) would be 5$ a day, or 35$ total. Not even worth thinking about. I'll be taking BSE, hands down, and stop worrying about the bill every time I splurge for that special margarita. Also, I wish to rant about their spelling of "Premier"...the lack of the 'e' at the end drives me nuts. (I speak French). I keep having to go back and correct the spelling from 'première' to 'premier'
dog Posted December 30, 2020 #28 Share Posted December 30, 2020 What drinks are not included in the drinks package? are there any bars or restaurants that are excluded? can you get juice at lunchtime in the MDR?
skynight Posted December 30, 2020 #29 Share Posted December 30, 2020 1 hour ago, MarcusRex said: Cool! I did not know that. That makes the BSE even more worth it. I'll add that to the math. I'm curious, when I buy a drink on board WITHOUT a package and I am paying the 14.50$ pppd gratuities, do I get an extra 18% surcharge as well? For example, I have the soda plan but I buy a fancy margarita at a bar. Let's say it costs 10$USD. What am I charge on my account? Just the 10$ or 11.80USD? For every beverage you purchase on board your account is charged the menu price + 18%. This includes bottles of water, sodas, juices, coffees, alcoholic drinks and anything else. When you have the beverage package the 18% is included so nothing extra is added for each beverage ordered. If you order a drink that has a menu price in excess of US$12 then according to the terms and conditions you are charged the full menu price + the 18%. It has been reported on these boards that sometimes the charge is the full menu price minus $12 + 18% of the difference. It's not in the terms, but people have reported being charged in that way. Two bottles beer usually Dos Equis. Six cans soda, usually 2 coke, 2 sprite, 2 club. @ bottles Perrier water, 2 bottles clear water. Alcoholic beverages can be exchanged for other alcoholic beverages and non alcoholic beverages. Non alcoholic beverages can only be exchanged for non alcoholic beverages. Brands may change. May also be exchanged for 24 waters, bottle wine (value up to $40 --- they'll give you the list), or 2 coffee programs. I trade for the later and have only run out once (request large latte & glass cup -- fills it twice. Think I drink about a liter of coffee a day)

Nearly all of the single shot cocktails are included in the beverage package. You will find some higher end liquors that may not be included as well as some of the wines. Bottled wine is not included (depends on who is serving you, though). None of the bars or restaurants are excluded however, your mini bar set up and room service are not included (this may vary once we are allowed to start cruising again ... I understand they may want passengers to order room service instead of go out in public places???) You can always order juice in the MDRs, package or no package. None of the bars or restaurants

To add to post #31, somewhere between 90 and 95% of all alcoholic drinks are priced $12 and under. All non-alcoholic drinks are priced under $12, canned soda is excluded, but red bull and maybe a few others are included.

If you have the mini bar set up then you can trade any item(s) for diet coke by calling room service. If you do not have the mini bar then you will have to pay for diet coke. If dog is interested in trading in the mini-bar for canned diet Coke, it does not matter how much the mini-bar is worth. Any trade is on an item-for-item basis. So, for example, if the 8 mini-bottles of alcohol are traded in, dog can get 8 cans of diet Coke even if the cost of Coke is less than the cost of the alcohol..

I oftentimes order cranberry juice with dinner and I've never been charged for it in the MDR during any meal (and without having the beverage package). That's odd. Maybe I am just living right. Just of note, we also order it via room service at all different times of the day and haven't been charged for it then, either. I’ve no idea; only commented on the daily gratuities. Without seeing your actual account statement from Princess it would difficult to try to explain the various charges, credits and what currency they are quoted in. It has been awhile since I’ve cruised on Princess but I do have a Celebrity cruise scheduled for 2022. I have the cruise fare (quoted in CAD as is any deposit and payment) and a listing of items I ‘purchased’ as a package when I bought the cruise and paid for in the overall cruise fair price. This package included beverages, daily gratuities, wi-fi and some OBC. All of those are quoted and credited back in CAD with a net of zero, except for the OBC of course.
