Locks at  IJmuiden ( to Amsterdam )  in 2012  . Right now they are enlarging the locks which should have been completed but they ran into some complications , stuff happens below the waterline ! 

 

 

This was on the Eurodam .

 

Terminal in Amsterdam  and some apartment buildings  and some scenery half way through the canal .

I spent 3 full days in IJmuiden in 2016 - in between my Prinsendam transatlantic and my 16 day river cruise [leaving from Amsterdam] I spent an afternoon down at the locks - just watching the river traffic. Nice way to wile away the day.

Thanks.  I was through those locks on the Nieuw Statendam but it was early morning before disembarkation and I was sound asleep at the time.

 

@Copper10-8, when was your visit to Korea.  I'm wondering if that train in the tunnel is something new.  I was on basically that tour in 2014 an (from my hotel while on a KAL stopover between Washington and Bali, and I had that long ramp

You may be correct, but I remember the XO showing us a picture of her painted.  One thing, it could have been a primer coat.

Good evening, everyone.

 

Dinner tonight was fish and cauliflower.   It will be fish and veggies for a while.   I am celebrating having lost my pandemic pounds and now I am starting on my methimazole pounds.  I was slightly over treated for hyperthyroidism to the extent that I fired the endocrinologist and went back to my primary care doctor.  

 

I am registered to get the vaccine when, and if, it becomes available.  It has been left up to each individual county and mine has dropped the ball big time.   All they did was give us a list of where we could get the vaccine and said to call them to find out how to register for it.  I'm sure the 7 pharmacies were pleased with all the calls they were getting.   I checked the website for the closest one and was able to register online.  Keeping my fingers crossed!

I have enjoyed reading through the daily today, as always.  Just took me until the end of the day to get here.  That martini sure looks good.

 

Spent a fair bit of the day catching up with some old friends, which was marvelous.

I am really late to the party.  Got a jab today, but not covid.  Every four weeks I go to a retina center to get a shot in my left eye for macular degeneration.  Not sure if it will cure it, but seems to stop it from getting worse.  Thought I might mention I was also on the private shore excursion to the DMZ that was organized by Ed Murphy, the former executive officer of the Pueblo.  We were escorted in the DMZ area by two officers of the United Nations Command, one a U.S. Navy Officer and the other a New Zealand Navy Officer.  As a former Navy person very familiar with the Pueblo incident, I very much enjoyed the day we spent there.
