Jordanyaya1 Posted January 16, 2021 #1 Share Posted January 16, 2021 Can anyone advise about the closet/storage space on the Celebrity Edge, concierge class? It’s almost impossible to determine from the website. We will be 3 going to a cooler climate and am concerned about closet space for jackets, sweaters, boots etc.

Rare cruisestitch Posted January 16, 2021 #3 Share Posted January 16, 2021 Three people will find it very tight. Better come up with alternate plans, like keep clothes in the suitcases under the bed.
upwarduk Posted January 16, 2021 #4 Share Posted January 16, 2021 Although I found the overhead lockers above the bed on Solstice class ships difficult to access, they certainly held plenty of jackets/ jumpers.
Alakegirl Posted January 16, 2021 #5 Share Posted January 16, 2021 Yes, but just like the clever way of making connecting room connect through the special vestibule, ship designers (who admitted that they had never been on a cruise ship) chose to eliminate them on the edge class

jelayne Posted January 17, 2021 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2021 The closet space on the Edge and the revolutionized M Class ships is limited. We were on the Edge for 7nights and we are not heavy packers and we had just enough space. Same with the Summit for 10 days, fortunately that was summer so no need for jackets, sweater, jeans. We haven’t been on a revolutionized S Class yet but will miss the over bed cabinet if that is eliminated.

Jelayne....we were on the revolutionized Silhouette February 2020 (first sailing after drydock) and can confirm that the cupboards above the bed were still there. Worked great. 1

This is very confusing and you would think that Celebrity would adjust their deck plan code to reflect the differences in these connecting cabins. I wasn't happy when booking to see the same - symbol used that denotes a connecting door.
Rare chemmo Posted January 17, 2021 #13 Share Posted January 17, 2021 We have done a couple of cold cruises and on the first took far too many bulky items. Jackets that separate into waterproof and fleece are both light, warm and very functional. We found T shirts with lightweight jumpers far more comfortable and warmer than thicker woolies. Most outdoor stores have ranges of skiing/mountaineering specific layers if you do really feel the cold. Could be worth while buying a couple of undershirts. After saying that we didn’t buy anything special. During the day we frequently found the need to shed, add and shed layers depending on the weather and what we were doing. In both Alaska and Norway there were times where we were in T shirts only for part of the day. In the evenings we dressed smart casual rather than cocktail dress and suits on our two cold cruises so that released some closet space too! If you want a jacket layer in the evening on board the ship you can simply unzip your fleece from the waterproof. With three in the room the idea of a couple of magnetic hooks is great, especially if you do return to the ship with damp waterproofs. Also you could only part unpack jumpers and T shirts on boarding leaving the rest in the suitcases then swap mid week... Hope you have a fantastic cruise! 2

However it is disappointing that a ship that was designed for the ship within a ship Premium Luxury concept doesn't provide adequate storage space. I would have hoped that the All Inclusive concept would have included adequate storage and hooks. Perhaps Celebrity should start marketing BYOH, Bring Your Own Hooks) in addition to the AI concept. Nothing says Premium Luxury like magnetic hooks from Home Depot. Maybe Celebrity can add the orange buckets to each room as totes to replace the Celebrity bags. Worked great. That’s exactly what we did. We also put worn clothing that is not needed again in the suitcases under the bed. Once went on a 6 week cruise from Australia to Alaska so packing was interesting but we managed ok.
Rare cruisestitch Posted January 17, 2021 #16 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Oh, speaking of luxury, you think the idea of Home Depot magnetic hooks for clothes is funny? Look at what you might need to do on edge in the verandah-less infiniteverandah rooms if you want to sleep in darkness while your partner is enjoying the “verandah” end of the room. Hooks and light blocking from Home Depot
Glendakayself Posted January 17, 2021 #17 Share Posted January 17, 2021 We brought over-the-door hooks from Target and put them on the framework around the desk area. We found one with 3 hooks, and it worked great to catch bags, jackets, etc., after the elimination of the wall hooks. Happy sails to you!
jelayne Posted January 17, 2021 #18 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Cruisestitch the photos made me smile as that was a photo I posted after our Jan 2019 cruise. We still have the blackout curtain & magnetic hooks. While we did this specifically for the Edge cruise, we now use them when we are in a cabin without a separate bedroom. They have been packed away far too long waiting for cruising to restart.
ipeeinthepool Posted January 17, 2021 #19 Share Posted January 17, 2021 The orange Home Depot buckets can also be used as a foot stool on the Edge. 1

Rare cruisestitch Posted January 17, 2021 #21 Share Posted January 17, 2021 Jelayne, I knew the screenshots I took of your photos would come in handy, and I apologize that I neglected to credit you as their source. I admired your ingenuity while bemoaning the edge’s poor design that made your invention a necessity!

Not even close. They are looking to be upscale mass market. Azamara upscale. Got to go to a different brand to find upscale "Premium Luxury" and a smaller ship

Celebrity is now New Luxury. That's the problem. Here's how Celebrity views themselves in the luxury market: Here's the Old Celebrity: Here's the new Celebrity: Edited January 17, 2021 by ipeeinthepool
