Reading posts by dates

Why are the posts not in date order?  It is difficult to read a post and then realize that it was written 6 months ago. The previous post was yesterday and the following post last week.  I feel like it is now necessary to check when it was written before reading and then realize why the person is writing a obvious question. In my opinion, organization of posts dates would be more efficient. Has anyone posted this question before?

Mine are sorted in date order. 
 

For the individual threads they are listed in date order by the last post. 
 

if you are starting at the beginning of the thread they will be all over the board.

 

you can change the sort order.
