Chichen Itza

If staying in a resort in Cancun, what is the best way to visit Chichen Itza for just a couple of hours. I realize the drive time is about 2.5 hours each way, which means 5 hours driving time. We are thinking about 2 hours there so around 7 hours for the total tour. Most of the ones I have looked at include lots of stops at different places and last 10-12 hours. Can anyone recommend a tour that would be shorter?

We’ve had good luck booking a van for 4 of us.

You go where you want, stay as short or long as you want, and stop when and where you want for comfort breaks, snacks or food.

Use the concierge at your resort to book, as individual vendors vary widely and the concierge has a reputation to uphold.

Well worth it.

We have now switched to a Coba ruins tour. Several companies offer “express” tours to this and Tulum. Also, Coba is the only one you can still climb. Found that interesting.

You can no longer climb Nohoch Mul which is the main pyramid...
