Who's booked for May 2022???

Some of you know that I'm a gloomy guy with the terrible graphs. Why so negative?

Actually, I'm a finance guy. I like to hear the bad news ASAP.

Back in October, I posted this answer to the cheerleaders...

Two months later, I had this update...

The UK variant was the wildcard. The trajectory in the UK was spectacular.

Today, I have re-assessed the situation. It's bad enough dealing with the evolution of one successful virus. Now, we have the prospects of the mutation of 4 successful variants!

First off, I have a Alaska cruise for May 2022. I cannot offer an opinion on the odds of sailing. My crystal ball is totally clouded.

I intend to observe all safety guidelines, although I've been infected back in May. I could be re-infected, and infect others. Yes, I will take the vax in June. Thank You.

Best of wishes to you guys. Be safe.

We have a booking for April 2022(Transatlantic), and I am in the process of cancelling a October 2021(HAL 26 day Europe/TA) cruise and applying the deposit to an August 2022 cruise(24 day Canada/New England/Iceland).

We both receive our second dose of Pfizer vaccine on Feb. 11.

We re-booked our canceled 2021 Mediterranean cruise for a similar one in Sept/Oct 2022.  We're both in finance, too, and like hearing the bad news early. That said, we've been optimistic enough to have booked cruises (all non-US) hitting most months from November 2021 through October 2022--but not May 2022! (Maybe I shouldn't be replying to this thread... 😀

I think any one of our booked cruises has a better than 50/50 chance of sailing--with rule modifications (masks, vaccines, etc.)--except for November/December 2021 Australia. I think Australia's borders will still be closed at that time.

My Magic 8-Ball reply is hazy, too, but I think cruising involving international travel will be a bust in 2021. I think 2022 still has a fighting chance.

We are booked for transatlantic- Med followed by a river cruise and a Paris extension for April-May 2022.  So I guess you can put me in the positive camp.   So far we only have our original FCD $300 invested so I am not concerned about the financial aspects of this venture

What a coincidence. Just days after this thread started, Government of Canada announces one-year ban for pleasure craft and cruise vessels till February 2022.

Followed by cancellations of cruise around the world till June(?)

Then, there's this...

"We observed a steady increase in the detection rate from late December to mid-February, with an alarming rise to 12.7% in the past two weeks," one team, at Columbia University Medical Center, write in a report that has yet to be published, although it is scheduled to appear in pre-print version this week.”

I'm desperately looking for good news. But, covid is in charge. Dictating the pace.

Perhaps, it would have to be 2022...

"Travel restrictions have no end in sight as European leaders worry about new variants"

Please note the date on this piece.....February 25th.

There has been movement since, but no one expects tourism before May/June  at the earliest.

Vax passports are looking more of a certainty to facilitate business and leisure travel.
