We called at Kusadasi in 2007 and went to Ephesus, which I thought was superb. But I wasn't too keen on Kusadasi itself, as there seemed to be a lot of 'tourist hassle', which I don't like.  We went on two further cruises that called at Kusadasi, and stayed on board both times

Good morning everyone, it is gorgeous here with a clear blue sky but quite a frost but it was lovely and warm  as we sailed into Rhodes harbour at the end of November 2015...

The ship docks so close to to the old town which is a real bonus...IMG_0653.thumb.JPG.44ae5e2b2ade8ef03c2d5b7a1fc1c785.JPG

Our first visit to Rhodes was in 1992 on our first cruise and we went to Lindos. I only have 3 photos from that visit because it was in the days before digital cameras so we had to eke out our pictures to fit in with the 36 on a roll of film!!! We look so young too.

For some reason the pictures that I scanned from photographs sometimes post sideways and I can't find a way to turn them round so apologies....img077.thumb.jpg.e954fd92c1679a8544b132e88713600f.jpg

Fantastic pictures of Rhodes, unfortunately ours are on a USB stick somewhere. Looking forward to Cairo as we haven't been there. On a land holiday in Rhodes we were told there was a 24 hour air traffic strike starting at the time of our flight. They took us to the airport anyway. At check in they told us there was a 24 hour strike, so the flight would be delayed about an hour.🤔

I missed Kusadasi yesterday which (funny enough) is exactly what happened on our 2008 Oriana cruise when I had a slight upset stomach. There was norovirus onboard so I thought that the responsible thing to do was report my symptoms to the doctor but I wasn't expecting to be confined to the cabin for 48 hours! Never mind, on to Rhodes where we didn't stray too far from the port and just had a stroll followed by a beer in a boot glass.

Great pictures, think one day will not do it justice, but its probably too far to fly for a few days?

Havent been to Cairo on a cruise ship  but might have a picture or 2 somewhere. I think we did

a land tour that included Cairo & Alexandria.

I’ve visited Rhodes 3 times on a cruise ship and twice on holiday at a hotel on a Rhodes town  beach. There is so much to see at Rhodes town and we never made it to Lindos.

Egypt was definitely out of our comfort zone when we went in 1992 on our first cruise and I was very nervous of a place and culture that was so different to our own but I was captivated. That first visit gave us the confidence to visit many more 'exotic' destinations in our future travels.

These pictures are from that 1992 trip and I'm having the same problem with them being sideways so apologies for that and for the outfits!!!

Failed to find ANY pictures of Cairo & surrounds which is a mystery  though I did find these mystery pictures which I am sure are Port Said from  a distance. It actually reminds me of Shanghai  when we first went with miles and miles of shipyards and docks. That has now all gone and been replaced with miles of highrise offices wonder if that will happen here?    Sorting pictures was a retirement project - retired 8 years ago

so maybe should get started on it!!!
