Aplmac Posted December 13, 2021 Author #4 Share Posted December 13, 2021 OK so Ponant finally made it to Barbados! Le Dumont d’Urville, made its first call to the Port of Bridgetown today! BPI’s Divisional Manager, Operations, Mr. Ian Stewart and the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.’s Business Development Officer, Cruise, Ms. Tia Broomes, welcomed Captain Regis Daumesnil, crew and guest, in a brief dockside reception, during which commemorative plaques were exchanged to mark the inaugural visit. Le Dumont D’Urville, one of the Ponant luxury vessel fleet, sailed in with 98 passengers and 120 crew on board.
Rare AussieBoyTX Posted December 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted December 13, 2021 (edited) Barbados is so much easier for us to get to than Fort-de-France. Especially with the unrest in Martinique and current ferry to St. Lucia, please sign me up for for any cruise embarking from Barbados! Rare Host Jazzbeau Posted December 14, 2021 #7 Share Posted December 14, 2021 Well, I won't see that view from the airport – but hopefully I will be seeing lots of Barbados in January when Oceania Riviera ports there. Do you know if Orchid World ever reopened, or plans to?

I have a funny feeling the answer is a negative? Their facebook page appears to be withdrawn and I just checked the local telephone directory to find no listing! Put those two indicators together, and we can only assume the worst. Have another funny feeling that it never did well, attendance-wise being it was almost exclusively-orchids, - unlike other commercial gardens that have mucho variety. Sorry about that..........
