boozrcruzr Posted February 13, 2021 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2021 We're looking into booking a Grand this time after a Junior last cruise. Does anyone have any experience with one. It's not that much more but is it worth it. There seems to be a few more perks, just wondering if they make it worth while. It's our 30th anniversary and my 60th so just wanted to do something a little different.
reallyitsmema Posted February 13, 2021 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2021 What ship? If it is a ship that has Royal Suite Class, it is a much different experience than a ship that doesn't have it.

reallyitsmema Posted February 13, 2021 #4 Share Posted February 13, 2021 Grand suite on Liberty is a much nicer cabin to a JS with a larger bathroom. GS will have access to the suite lounge or concierge lounge, whatever they are calling it when cruising starts up again. You will also have priority boarding and disembarking, bridge tour, reserved seating at shows, free room service, and other stuff I am sure I am forgetting.
AF-1 Posted February 13, 2021 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2021 I have stayed in Grand Suite. They are larger than junior suite; they have a nice bar built in; larger balcony, lots of closet and storage space. below is the link to suite perks. George C Posted February 13, 2021 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2021 We normally book grand suites on rccl , have done grand suite on Liberty twice. Suites are really nice with nice balcony, bathroom is extremely large with double sinks . They added a large suite lounge a few years ago, that has free drinks for 3.5 hours in the evenings , concierge is there to help with anything you need like dinner reservations, he also will escort you off the ship at end of the cruise which is very nice. Reserved seats are also very nice, ice show which is great and normally very crowded you can just bypass the line. Also reserved seats for the play and other shows , play I believe is still Saturday night fever which is good. I also enjoyed the reserved seats by the pool. boozrcruzr Posted February 13, 2021 Author #7 Share Posted February 13, 2021 Thank you all for the information. It's been a year, in two days since our last one so we are looking forward to this. Hope things are settled down by then. Only 449 days to go!
AF-1 Posted February 13, 2021 #8 Share Posted February 13, 2021 Thanks Geoge C. The above things you mention are good for Freedom and Voyager class ships. I don't think Radiance Class ships will have the same perks, since they don't have an ice rink. Yes I do see the OP is sailing Liberty; which is a Freedom Class ship

If you go to the main dining room, just flash your gold card and skip the line. We had the head waiter and one of the head cooks come to our cabin and ask why we haven’t been to the dining room and invited us as their personal guest. George C Posted February 13, 2021 #16 Share Posted February 13, 2021 You will get a email from concierge about 5 days before your cruise starts he will list the current perks that will be offered on Liberty of the seas. Only time I didn’t book a grand suite since booking my first is when we booked a owners suite 😁😁
smokeybandit Posted February 14, 2021 #17 Share Posted February 14, 2021 Suites are definitely like crack. Very addicting. Fortunately I've never been addicted to crack though.
Sun and Fun Posted February 14, 2021 #18 Share Posted February 14, 2021 We started out in a GS, then OS a few couple times...and now in January 2022 we are in a Star Loft/Star Class on Symphony. It is a slippery slope for the checkbook!! 🤣 I think the only other thing not mentioned is the concierge will also escort you off the ship in the ports of call. Really upsets other passengers as they change the elevator to VIP status and bypass everyone waiting in line to get off the ship (we usually look down and keep whispering to each other...”no eye contact, no eye contact”). 1
boozrcruzr Posted February 14, 2021 Author #19 Share Posted February 14, 2021 This all sounds very cool. Can't wait to experience all the perks...it sounds like it would be hard to back to any other kind of cruising.
CraigG Posted February 14, 2021 #20 Share Posted February 14, 2021 Hi, my name is CraigG and I am a suite addict. I started in jr suites like everyone else. It felt too good but I knew there was more. Soon i found myself on a hopeless rollercoaster, finally peaking on deck 17. And it was there I learned of the Royal Genie....... Just kidding. Grand suites are a wonderful upgrade. You will love it. And will have a hard time going back 😉
boozrcruzr Posted February 14, 2021 Author #21 Share Posted February 14, 2021 So...does the bar come stocked? And if so with what? I was asked about this, so I thought I would throw this out there.

No. Royal does not stock any cabins with alcohol unless you are in Star class. 1

Consider msc yacht club for a future cruise much better perks including stocked mini bar, drink package, WiFi, and suite restaurants, for a reasonable price, a little more than a Liberty grand suite. The happy hour in the suite lounge is good, all of the beautiful people are there including yourself. Gin Martini, 3 of those and you are anyone’s.
