Anybody experience the Olde Hansa Restaurant? Comments?

Dear Duquephart:

 

We have eaten at the Olde Hansa Restaurant inTallinn.  The food is fair (some good dishes and some bad misses).  The service, facilities and decor are very nice giving a "middle ages" feeling. The belly dancer and musical accompaniment are enjoyable.  It results in a nice evening out.  However, the prices (and overall quality  of the food/price ratio) are very high for Tallinn and it has  a very tourist feel.

We had lunch there several years ago and would echo Cape Hernlopen's comments. It is very much designed for tourists. It was fun, but not our best meal over the several days we were in Tallinn. The best dinner we had was at Rataskaevu 16. It is not far from Olde Hansa. It depends on if you are more interested in the "medieval" atmosphere or not.

A better way to experience food in Tallin is with these people. We had a fabulous few hours with them and enjoyed real Tallin including off the beaten track. It wasn’t over strenuous and was excellent value

This place caught my eye while cruising websites. The whole "feel" of it, atmosphere, costumes, etc. had some appeal. Wasn't really thinking in terms of the food per se but that would surely be a plus. If it is too blatantly a tourist trap that would detract.

In Tallinn, we had Alla from St Petersburg provide a tour for 5 of us. Full day, which included the walk through old town. We opted not to take the time for a full lunch, so our guide suggested a local bakery, for tea and a snack.
