Anyone hear any news about when your cruise line is starting up again? What it will be like?

Windstar is supposed to start June 10 but with restrictions. Masks. Ship's tours only, unless WS is able to vet other providers for their safety practices. Go ashore and roam around with group escorts only. Tenders can be only 50% occupied. It seems that WS is also going to start out at 50% capacity making for 74 passengers max. This will continue as "long as is necessary". Hoping that this is temporary until we know how much COVID wil raise it's ugly head. Fingers crossed it's minimal to none.

TBK- what's the word on PG?

Aranui?

I think NCL is also due in November.

I posted this to the Windstar board and included a photo of the card I was given when I got my vaccine. It seems some airlines are pushing for something official to be added to our passports with documentation saying we've received our vaccines. If this ends up being required it's possible the cruise lines won't be far behind. My state was very lax about registration and documentation when we got our vaccines. Didn't have to even present our drivers licenses. The card we got lists CDC, our names, DOB (handwritten by me), stamp with the vaccine lot and #, and that's it. It seems it could very easily be forged.

What about you?

OK- here's a helpful article from someone on the Windstar board. Tells all about how things will work if proof of vaccination is required.

No it's purely a speculative article about how things might work. There is no technology yet in place for any type of secure vaccination passport and the cards we get in the US can be forged with little effort.

Like much of what is published by the "Points Guy" it's totally ungrounded in fact.

Thanks. What I got from this is just to hold onto my little white CDC card that is not something official, it's best I've got right now. Thanks again my friend.

We  have them stored in our travel wallets with our passports and global entry cards and we took photos of them and uploaded the pictures to Google Photos as well as storing them directly on our mobile phones.

Did you have to present your DL when you checked in for vax?

We got our vaccinations at our local hospital, which already had our IDs in their system, so we weren't required to show them again. Their system has the patient photos already so they can just look at you and match it to the picture in the system.

Something like this may be more likely in the future for keeping track of vaccine recipients. Would be hard to do a 'covid passport' as the vaccine only last so long. The palm system would be updated every time you get a new vaccine.

End times ???

I couldn't get the song "Love Potion No. Nine "out of my head when I read this. Was someone named Madame Rue involved with the development of the technology? 😉

Would have a lot more confidence in a hospital system vaccine verification than I have in my local county department of health, that is still relying on ink and paper.

Could see something like this being the vaccine tracker of the future. Thanks- cool.

I received my vaccinations at the largest drugstore/pharmacy chain in the nation.  They didn't give me a card that says CDC on it. I did have to show ID.  It's all handwritten, no stamps. It's on a regular sheet of paper that you would put in your copier. This would be soooo easy to forge. I have to believe there is going to be some kind of digital passport.  My sheet of copy paper is basically meaningless and I am sure it would not be accepted by any country.
