Looks as though Marella are considering UK sailing this summer, let's hope they do, they seem to be one of the few lines not to have annouced their intention to offer them.

Marella were not going to have any ships operating from the UK this summer with fly cruises only but it would be logical to try some 'scenic' cruises if they could make the arrangements.

I would think that there could be a problem getting berths ( is that the correct term for parking a ship?) at Southampton with all of the cruise lines that are doing U.K. trips.

As per the article Marella management think "Dover has never looked so attractive!”

They've also sailed from Newcastle in the past, as suggested think Southampton could get quite busy this summer

Hopefully  Marella will look at sailing from northern ports, could pick up a lot of trade as the other main cruise companies are sailing from Southampton and not everyone wants to trail down there. Liverpool or Newcastle would be great and perhaps one of the Scottish ports.

Think the government were advising holidays abroad will be unlikely  this summer,  no reason why cruises around the UK can't  go ahead for UK people.  They might become a popular choice.  Princess UK cruises go on sale this week so the other companies should follow soon.  We're definitely interested,  feels like a bit of normality is around the corner!

Have finally decided to book a Princess cruise around the UK in October. Ten nights, balcony cabin on deck 15, includes drinks package, all tips and WiFi. All for just over£3300 for the two of us. Bargain, if it goes ahead. I know it's from Southampton, and it'll be a bit of a pain to get there from Yorkshire, but I can't wait. Have already started looking at YouTube videos of the ship.

Keep safe everyone.

I fully respect your optimistic outlook dronnygirl but realistically my feelings are that normality is a few years off yet, yes cruising may go ahead but not as we know it and do we want to be cruising round the UK in October. Obviously everyone is different and has different expectations from a cruise but for us it's no longer what we could accept or accept. Fully understand anyone wishing to book now.

We are hoping for a cruise early September but will wait until we have heard some reviews before booking anything. We absolutely  loved Shetland when we visited in 2018 and are hoping for a cruise that visits similar places. Seen some nice ones with Fred but will see what Marella have to offer.

Simon Calder had a piece in the Independent  a few days ago about Princess not allowing punters off the ship in UK ports unless they go on ship organised excursions.

British citizens not being allowed ashore in their own country unescorted - that'll go down well with potential customers !!!

Apologies, if that's breaking news to you - don't shoot the messenger !!!

On the contrary, I can assure Andrew Flintham that not a few potential cruisers have never considered Dover as an attractive port of departure. ☹️

Think Newcastle or Rosyth for us North Britons - Liverpool for middle of the UK punters.
