ACL requiring Covid-19 ONLY 1 week before a cruise sails GOOD and BAD

We just booked our first ACL cruise on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.  From another posting, that is the day ACL began requiring guest to have Covid-19 vaccinations before being allowed to board.  We were NOT told that vaccinations were required for boarding when we booked our June cruise.

Good for ACL to require guest to be vaccinated. I understand ACL wants to protect the health and safety of both guest and crew.

Will all crew members be vaccinated before sailing? Will all entertainers and tour guides and bus drivers be required to be vaccinated?

NOT GOOD:  Surprising guest 1 week before sailing that without the vaccinations they will NOT be allowed on board.

NOT GOOD:  Not informing guest vaccination will be required to board the vessel when booking a  cruise.

As a new guest to ACL this makes me wonder: "What new  requirements will ACL drop on us 1 week before we sail in June?"

We have completed our 2 Covid Vaccinations, but I am concerned that we were NOT told about the vaccine policy when we booked the cruise.

ACL needs to rethink the start date of this policy and they need to train their representatives more on the policy.

From American Cruise Line Web site Page 1: Click on {Operating Protocol}

I did not find anything on ACL REQUIRING Covid-19 Vaccinations, but strongly recommend.

Below are the statements on ACL web site.

Covid-19 Operating Protocols

"American Cruise Lines will require a negative COVID-19 test result for all guests and crew members boarding its ships. This includes the requirement for guests to test on their own prior to traveling to the ship. A certified Medical Officer will be aboard each ship to conduct a brief pre-boarding health screening of each guest. In addition, masks are to be worn during the cruise in compliance with the Executive Order on Promoting COVID-19 Safety in Domestic and International Travel.

We look forward to being back on the water with you. Please contact a Cruise Specialist at 1-800-460-4518 with any questions."

"Guests are strongly encouraged to get a COVID-19 vaccine prior to travel. Guests with a vaccine must comply with all the requirements of the American Cruise Lines Operating Protocol, including for testing and mask-wearing"
