Disney Magic UK Staycations

IMO, it just doesn't make any sense for fully vaccinated adults to be required to wear masks and socially distance.  I couldn't be paid to take these cruises with these restrictions for those fully vaccinated.  It appears that pool reservations are required?  Sun tanning with a mask on?

Either the vaccines work or they don't.

Yet most government leaders don't get it why they are hitting a wall of a large % of the population < 50 that are simply not coming forward to get vaccinated.  It's a fair question to ask, "why, if nothing changes?"

IMO.

All this information can be found here.

https://disneycruiselineblog.com/2021/04/disney-cruise-line-publishes-important-information-for-2021-uk-staycations-including-a-vaccine-requirement-for-select-guests/

Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 11 and up) and Crew Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining, swimming or in your stateroom. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. It is recommended that children ages 3 to 10 wear a face covering at all times except in designated locations. All face coverings should fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free; fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face; be secured with ties or ear loops; and be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable. At this time based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

What I explained is defined by Disney as active eating, defined below

Disney updated their policy recently to say when dining at a restaurant, guests must wear face coverings while standing, waiting, or sitting in dining locations. In other words guests must now keep their masks on unless they are actively eating or drinking at their table. **That means that unless you are taking a sip or a bite, your face covering should be on.**

https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/02/what-you-need-to-know-about-disneys-face-mask-policies/

This is something that only Disney and the airlines do, and has absolutely zero basis in science. Unfortunately too many people are more than happy to adhere to these inane rules, so Disney will not be changing them anytime soon.

Me, I am more than happy to vote with my wallet and go to a nice all-inclusive resort not run by idiots for the same price (or cheaper depending on what country you go to).

Just need to chime in here for a moment.  I live in Orlando and visit the Disney parks almost weekly. Restaurants DO require masks when you walk in and while you are walking around the restaurant. However, once you are seated at your table, you are able to remove the masks with no issues. You DO NOT have to wear your masks in between bites of food or anything else like that.  While I agree that masking is completely useless, especially after being vaccinated, I had to make sure that this incorrect information is not spread. Of course, what happens on the cruise ship could be different than what is currently happening at the parks.  However, I would venture to guess Disney knows enough to realize that guests will not tolerate putting their masks on in between bites of food.

If you are wondering about the other information, it can be found directly on Disney's cruise site.

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/why-cruise-disney/experience-updates/

Scroll halfway down to the top things you need to know section and expand each section there.

Before you got all twisted up, did you look at the UK NHS (national health service) website and look thru the UK recommendations? Since the sailings are within the UK, it would make sense the NHS instead of the CDC would be calling the shots, right?

Here's the link to the UK NHS mask info.

Yes I’m hoping for this information too.

I can’t imagine I would book any cruise where I would need to join a virtual queue just to go outside, but intrigued by the pricing before the restrictions I thought £3000 for family of 4 for 3 nights, now I’m thinking £1500 with no buffet, no character meets, one show, limited kids club use.....doesn’t sound like much of a holiday.

Seeing some pricing on Facebook groups suggest much more expensive in the school holidays (expected) I saw one booking for a veranda 3 adults 3 nights (£3300) a family of 4 inside from Liverpool (£1900)

for me it looks like I can book 7 nights on MSCs new ship with premium drinks, 4 ports of call, all grats for roughly the same money as this 3 night DCL cruise without those additional benefits.

We booked MSC Virtuosa 2A 2C in a balcony cabin with (nearly) all drinks included at the end of July (school holidays) for £2,183.

Our friends today paid £3,376 for 2A 2C in an ocean view room for 3 nights at the end of July.

I'm glad we didn't wait for DCL. We shall cruise DCL in the Caribbean and pay less!

I have never been on a cruise with Disney before, we have been on a good number of Celebrity and are Diamond members with Royal Caribbean.

I called Disney today to find out how much a trip would be on the 18 July from Liverpool. The price quoted was £714.18 for an inside guarantee for 2 adults, which I accepted and booked.

I am unsure if we got any form of discount with this as we are DVC members but the price did not seem too astronomical.

Agreed.  Good price for a Disney cruise.  We booked 30th August for 2 nights for £818.  We're happy with the price.  Really thought it would be around £1600!!

Such a busy few months coming up now!

We have Britannia (2 nights)

Virgin Voyages (3 nights)

MSC Virtuosa (3 nights) and now Disney!!

How many days for the DCL cruise? If seven - that's a great price. If 2/3 - that's not.

That’s for a Disney cruise is a good price.

£818 for a TWO NIGHT cruise? Daylight robbery! Plus you have the cost of getting their by car, train possibly. So what another £100. Again daylight robbery!

Absolutely agree.

My friends paid £3,876 for a 3 night cruise for four people in a balcony stateroom from Southampton with Disney. No ports of call so no opportunity to leave the ship. Thier alcoholic drinks and gratuities are an extra cost. Cost per person per night - £336.50 (with gratuity added)

I've paid £3,448 for a 7 night cruise for six people in two Balcony staterooms from Southampton with MSC. Three ports of call so an opportunity to leave the ship. Our alcoholic drinks and gratuities are included. Cost per person per night - £82.

Disney cruises are, admittedly, very good. They are not worth an extra £241 per person per night to me. I'd rather take the extra money and have a few nights at Disneyland Paris.

So £350 a night with grats added. Disney are robbing Jon Snows from game of thrones if you get my drift.

To be honest, I'm not surprised at the high prices. (but then I can say that as I'm not booking a trip with them! 😛 )

They know that they offer something unique, and although other ships are also doing UK sailings, this is probably the only time any of the DCL ships will be doing a round Britain trip; so they can add that as another justification.

(Again, not that I whole heartedly agree with the prices).

Given the resorts extended closure, I'm sure they'd be more than glad of your visit when they finally do get back open. 🙂

TBH I wouldn't say no to a DCL cruise, but I'd be more than happy to go to DLP for three or four days instead.

Well, I'm not the only one who thinks its a good price.  The insides, on most dates, are sold out.

For those sailing on MSC.  I love MSC but unless you are in the yacht club (ship within a ship concept), there is about a 1/3 of the ship that "steerage class" will not be allowed to enter.  I believe there is access all areas on the Disney Magic.

Yes, Disney is pricey but so is Harrods, Fortnum & Mason, The Ritz, the Burj, Waldorf etc, etc!!

After the year we have had money is not an issue.  Creating memories with my family is my philosophy!!

Totally agree.

The Disney memories with children and grandchildren in our humble opinions is money well spent.

Sailed most of the major cruise lines and thoroughly enjoyed them all but the Disney experience we think is something else and worth paying for.

I’ve really no doubt they’ll have no problem selling them.

I have just received this for the 18th July sailing, looks like their may be a bit of a problem.

Thank you for booking a Disney Magic at Sea sailing with Disney Cruise Line

As you may be aware, many of the UK government’s COVID-19 restrictions were expected to end on June 21, but have now been extended until at least July 19. Among these restrictions is capping the number of passengers able to board cruise ships at 1,000 people or 50% of the ship’s capacity. Unfortunately, your sailing currently exceeds this limit.

We are currently offering a limited number of Guests* the opportunity to change their sail date and receive a 50% discount on the voyage fare of a future 2-, 3-, or 4-night Disney Cruise Line sailing taken on or before December 31, 2022, or cancel their sailing and receive a full refund.

This offer is only available to Guests on the July 18, 2021, sailing. Current availability on Disney Magic at Sea sailings from Liverpool is limited; however, there is availability out of the other UK ports should you wish to sail this summer close to home.  There are also 3- or 4-night sailings out of Port Canaveral, Florida or Miami, Florida available.

If you are interested in selecting an alternate sail date or cancelling your booking and receiving a full refund, we ask that you contact us at 0800-171-2317 by Tuesday, July 6, 2021.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew

Disney Cruise Line

*This offer is only available to a limited number of Guests in excess of the government-imposed 1,000 maximum on the Disney Magic July 18, 2021 sailing. The 50% discount applies to voyage fare and non-commissionable fare, is applied to each individual Guest, and is non-transferable. Gratuities, Taxes, Fees, onboard experiences and Port Adventures are not eligible. Guests cannot change their reservation back to the original sail date after taking advantage of this offer. The discount is not applicable to Disney Magic July 15, 2021 or July 18, 2021 sailings. Standard prevailing rates apply and Guests are responsible for any balance due after the offer has been applied. Any refunds due will be processed as a normal course of business. Standard cancellation policies and terms and conditions apply to future sailings.
