I was wondering if Seaman was booked yet!

We are thinking about doing one from Dominican Republic, but are waiting to see what the flights out of Boston will cost on Southwest. I have a casino voucher I am anxious to use. Also, I think our October cruise to Bermuda will be cancelled, so that will give us more credits to use up.

Hi Arzeena,

Still nothing booked for me as I want complete certainty as to what the protocols might be before I do it. While I want to cruise desperately there are some show stoppers that might still be out there (like only using NCL excursions ..would be one) I really think we will see some clarity in the next few months though and can't wait to find something soon!

Don has a cruise booked on The Gem for next January or February which I think is 11 days...I definitely would love one of our 14 day cruises out of NYC but still waiting on any schedules for those.

Our last cruise was on the Bliss 14 days ending right on the Day of the Super Bowl January/February 2020 ...there were only one or two cruises after that before everything shut down.

Nice to hear from you and we will keep our fingers crossed something can happen soon. 😉

I need for cruising to get back as it would reduce a lot of the bickering on these boards.

People could start complaining about kids in the Haven, watered down drinks, waiting in line to get on ship, rude people in elevators etc..

Its getting really boring on some of these threads listening to hypothetical complaints vs. real ones.

If they ban hypothetical complaints on these boards, then I’m not posting anymore!! 😉😎

Airfare is ridiculous. I paid $380 one way to do a Celebrity sailing in Saint Martin. 3 weeks later the same seat is now $1,700.

Why would anyone pay that price!? It’s really unfortunate.

How are cruise lines going to be able to fill their ships from home ports not in the US with those kind of prices for airfare? Seems impossible to me.

I should have booked sooner, but Carnival and Nor were dragging their feet on moving the home port outside the US, smh

There not going to. It will be a 4000 dollar doorstep to doorstep vacation per person for an inside cabin. Once the airline pricing algorithms figure out the cruise ship schedules it's all over. Big ships need big airports. Big ships and little airports don't work.

Hey @seaman11, where will you be flying from? I'm booked on the Norwegian Gem out of Dom Rep Sept 12-19th. I booked with United and I didn't think it was that bad. If I would've just flown Economy, it was $500 round trip from Grand Rapids, MI to Punta Cana, Dom Rep. However, when I found out about the complimentary beer, wine & spirits in Business class, I had to "pull the trigger" and upgrade to Business (for $134 more each way). Now I just have to practice so I can drink at least $134 worth of booze each way to get my $'s worth.

OK, @farmersfight,  Now I am really getting pissed off. We are on the Gem for Oct 10-17 and the best business class I can do out of Houston on United is $1501 R/T. And we have to go down Sat as all of the Sunday flights arrive Monday.

Read a bunch of your posts on the RatPack posting. Figured you were an Aggie. Then you posted you went to college in Galveston. I am about 30 min W of Houston.

Man I'm glad that I went ahead and snagged a decent price on a flight from Atlanta to Montego Bay... The thing that I'm wondering now, is how equipped is the port there to handle a ship full of passengers?... Normally, they only have to deal with whoever decides to get off the ship on a port day, and those can be spread out over the entire day. Now, they're going to have to handle an entire ship's worth of people in a short time frame...

Thanks for confirming I got a good deal on my airfare, lol. Yeah, my airfare in total (R/T) ended up being $768 (for Business class <- free booze, yay!). And this was from the "smallish" Gerald R. Ford airport in Grand Rapids, MI. You would think that flying out of one of United's major hubs (IAH) that your airfare to Dom Rep would've been less than $1501 R/T.

Yes, you've got me pegged as an Aggie (Gig 'Em). I'm actually a Texas Maritime Academy grad (TMA is part of Texas A&M at Galveston). I also lived in Houston for the majority of my working career; in Friendswood, in Webster & in Atascosita. Are you out near Katy (or Brookshire)?

With a CC screen name of DanMartin8602, you are definitely CC Rat Pack material. After all, just insert an "e" in between the "D" and the "a" and you're Dean Martin! How fitting is that? All kidding aside, you're welcome to come join us. If you're interested, just do a quick post on our CC Rat Pack thread, expressing your interest.

Btw, only 2 posts here on CC so far? Welcome to Cruise Critic!
