May the force be with you... but without democrats, zero chance.  I saw zero democrats listed in the article.

To be objective, Florida and Alaska, are the two most affected states by the CSO so of course it makes sense that the 3 senators introducing this bill are from those states, regardless of their political affiliation. Let’s see now how much support the bill gets from the other 97 senators.

It will get no support because cruise ship are polluting floating covid hubs who employ about what 10-15 americans each NCL pride being the exception.

The senators in question do not care about pollution , they just care about all the revenue created by passengers visiting and spending money before and after cruises in hotels and restaurants.

Won't go anywhere. This is the third bill introduced by senators since Covid started. The first one was introduced last Setember by Rubio and Scott when the Republicans had the senate and it didn't go anywhere. It ended up in McConnell's graveyard where apparently even Republican sponsored bills could go. The second one was introduced in March by Murkowski to allow ships to sail to Alaska without having to stop in Canada. That bill is still waiting. If recent history continues, this bill won't even have Republican (McConnell) support, let alone bipartisan support.

Hey Rubio has been pushing for an end to Daylight Savings Time for years.   How successful has he been?  And that's pretty non controversial.

This is simply a grandstand play from presidential wannabes.

Actually daylight savings time is controversial when your 5 year old is at the bus stop at 7:45am and its dark as it would be in may northern major cities in December and January.

The cruise ships aren't going anywhere because the majority of politicians, both red guys and blue guys don't care. They got no stimulus money and they get no love as they don't flag their ships here and act autonomously in international waters.

The people who work on the docks and suppliers are the pons in the game that are getting hurt - The little people or better known as the  middle class that is always screwed!

From the article:

The Act also requires the CDC to revoke the order entitled “Framework for Conditional Sailing and Initial Phase COVID-19 Testing Requirements for Protection of Crew” no later than July 4. It also ensures that HHS and CDC retain all appropriate authorities to make and enforce regulations necessary to prevent the introduction, transmission, or spread of communicable diseases on any individual cruise ship.

So they demand that the CSO be cancelled, but then instruct CDC to tell cruise lines how to keep ships safe.  Isn't that what the CSO did?

I think it's fair to have an opinion regarding the bill's chances. I would suggest that attributing motives to another is perhaps unfair.

It's poorly written but I think it means they can still dictate rules for protocols for pre-, during and post-cruise. Just can't outright ban cruising like they are now.

Really only needs one senator and about a dozen congress people....  of course we will eventually see it one party against the other, and one party is total in their convictions.

Rubio, has exactly the same chance I have of being president.  IE zero.  Republicans don’t trust him, therefore, he is toast.

Why are you here?

If you hate cruising, please go to the Greenpeace web page and leave us in our misery alone.

In what sense ?

At 6 months it magically swaps from 21 hours of light to 21 hours of dark. 🤔🤣🤣

Plus Alaska is huge, northern parts get more summer daylight than northern parts.

Any part of Alaska within the Arctic Circle gets 24 hours of sunlight on at least the June Solstice
