Hello to our Cruise Critic friends!  Patti and I are vacationing for two weeks here in Florida. Until the world turned upside down, we would have gotten off the Horizon this past Sunday, and would have been boarding the Breeze next Sunday. Yesterday we spent the day at Cocoa Village, then headed over to the Cocoa Beach Pier......

We went out to the Tiki Bar at the end of the pier.......

Once out there, what did we see? Two Disney ships, the Fantasy and Dream, off in the distance. It was great to see some ships out there, even if they were anchored, and not Carnival ships.......

Here we are alive, well, and fully vaccinated.......

Just wanted to post something that was different than what's been posted the last year. Hope we are all back to cruising by late summer / early fall. Stay well my friends! :classic_cool:

I booked a Cocoa Beach hotel for our anniversary, just trying to get a little cruise feeling and that is what I saw when I stepped onto my balcony. Three Disney ships sitting in the water taunting me. I also took a party boat out of Port Canaveral in February and they got real close to them then.

If everything goes right, I'll be cruising out of Port Canaveral on the Mardi Gras in late November... Before that, I'm going to be taking one of the "vaccinated cruises" out of Montego Bay on the NCL Joy in August... Glad to see you're doing well, Jamman54...

Yay!!  Glad to see you two are getting out and about.  Thanks for posting some of the "good stuff" and as always I look forward to your next trip report!

We have made it through so far, even as essential workers exposed to the public. Can't wait to be doing reviews again!

i wear my RIKI TIKI TAVERN tee shirt often. we cruise out of Canaveral often. in fact 2 out of the next 3 we have booked leave from there and we usually hit the pier while in town.

We make a point of visiting the pier everytime we're down here.

Such a great sight. Hopefully we'll all be able to cruise again sooner than later!

I'm going to be there in about a month. I have my eye on taco tuesday at sand bar sports and grill 2 for 1 tacos. I finally closed on a condo there, but fixing it up so will stay in hotels again. I'm planning a week there.

I have a hotel booked for sept on the beach in Galveston TX. Probably be hotter than blazes. Booked non refundable suite before my carnival vista cruise, so might as well go.

Fully vaccinated and think it's stupid to stay home in fear. Glad to see you are enjoying cape Canaveral. I'm thinking of NASA there too while I'm there, plus the beach of course. And fresh fish and fish tacos.

Where are you eating? I heard on the beach go to fish lips happy hour from a guy who seems to know the bar scene lol. I'll be there once I get my phone calls done and things going. Rental cars are sky high!

I'm chomping at the bit to do another cruise review. Our next cruises are in October. A B2B on the Miracle followed by the Panorama. 😎

Make sure that you check out the pier. We are going to the Kennedy Space Center tomorrow. We always stop at Fishlips when we are down here. We ate there after we left the pier yesterday. There are other places there that are good such as Rusty's and Grill's. 😎

Have you considered the Victory Casino cruise?  We went a few weeks ago and enjoyed it.  We were on the water, sitting on a deck, and listening to live music.  It was $14 pp and the lunch choices were pretty good.  They normally take 1,200 people; they were at 35% capacity and said there were way less than that the day we were there.  Not a cruise, but the closest thing possible right now!

Sandbar is awesome, can't beat Taco Tuesday there.

We live 2 miles north of the pier and right now I have a beautiful view of those two Disney ships from my living room.  Grill's is our favorite place to eat at the port (especially at the tiki bar) and we also like Rising Tide.  I think Fishlips is just OK but they do have a good happy hour with food and drink specials.  Papa Vito's is amazing for pizza and Italian food and Ellie Mae's is our neighborhood tiki bar which also has great food.

Glad to see you are enjoying a vacation! We will be headed to the FL Keys in June, instead of doing a cruise. 😞 I am hopeful that the cruise I have planned for next April will happen, but for this year anyway it is land vacays for us.

I just bought and sounds like you have a better view. Lol

I have to step out to the balcony to see the ocean pretty much. What my realtor calls a peek a boo view between bldgs. I wish I'd got this idea sooner to buy before prices went up and could have afforded a better view. Its probably better idk what prices on oceanfront condos used to be. We just closed this week actually. I must be close to you as I'm north of the pier, but hard to judge miles. A mile? More? Looks like a long walk. I was there the end of January giving deposit and inspecting.

Howdy neighbor.

Yea I cant wait for a couple of those fish tacos. My mouth is already set. I didnt get a key to the pool and the HOA mgmt co not answering. I'm making calls today before I fly there for a week. At least we closed yea!

I wanted to live a uber ride from the port and not have to park.

What side street are you near?  We're on Ridgewood just north of Cherie Down Park. We moved over from Orlando almost 4 years ago and we love it here.

Jamman54 the Cocoa Beach Air Show is this weekend and they're practicing today - it's SO LOUD. lol  But so awesome to see (and hear).  I feel like we're sitting on a runway.  😉  Here's the schedule if you're going to be around this weekend.

Good to see you guys! :)

You should just make this thread a "cruise review" on your land-based vacation! Let us all live vicariously through you!

Enjoy your trip!

I would love to continue my report, but since this thread has been moved from the Carnival board, my Carnival friends won't be able to find it. However, I am updating my cruise and vacation site almost daily, and pictures from our vacation can be found in our April Road Trip album. The link is in my signature. :classic_cool:

We thought about it then decided not too. We did catch the Victory floating around out there.....

Hey Stefanie! We're having a great time, but missing our cruises. Hopefully we can sail in October!
